1 LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME: SENIOR LEADERS MORE INFORMATION

2 PROGRAMME OUTCOMES Raised self-awareness through a personalised Emotional Intelligence psychometric report and 1-1 Executive coaching session with a Xenonex Coach Updated contextual information and input relating to changes to the FE sector and consideration of specific challenges that Colleges will face in responding to these in the future Opportunity to work collaboratively with other senior colleagues to research, evaluate and present finding to members of the College Executive/ Board on a specific in-house College project Guidance in developing and leading High Performing Teams inspire those around them to keep raising the bar Become more commercially savvy understand how to engage effectively with employers and create opportunities for the College through enhanced focus on relationship development Better self care be more mindful, more resilient and more effective in managing your workload, levels of stress and fulfilment in role Enhanced abilities in performance management - critical conversations with key members of staff in order to drive performance improvements and also to coach/ mentor talent Strategic approach - Work at a strategic level and make that step-up from the operational day to day. Lead and drive through large-scale change programmes Improved self presentation - Present a confident, assured and assertive presentational style and heightened personal impact both internally and externally

3 PROGRAMME STRUCTURE AND MODULE INFORMATION Overview 8 full days of workshops:1 module per workshop and recommended one workshop per month An individual Executive Coaching session and personalized EQi feedback report 6 x 2 hour facilitated Action Learning Sets (relating to a specific in-house College project) facilitated by the KPMG consultant PP Pre programme Each Senior Leader will be invited to complete an on line Leadership Emotional Intelligence Report. The report will examine 5 key aspects and 15 indicators of Emotional Intelligence in Leadership: 1) Self Perception 2) Self Expression 3) Interpersonal Skills 4) Decision Making 5) Stress Management 1 FE In Context An introduction to the senior leaders programme, including the format and requirements of the programme Delegates will have an opportunity to reflect on the past, present and future FE context in relation to their college Delegates will choose their synoptic projects and form project teams An introduction to Action Learning Sets (ALS) and how these will work in practice along with developing terms of reference for each group Each delegate will receive a personalised Leadership Emotional Intelligence feedback report and gain raised self awareness through an Executive Coaching session with a Xenonex Coach. The session will conclude with the formation of a Personal Development Plan Delegates will have a raised awareness of the changes in the FE sector and implications for the college and themselves as leaders. They will be provided with time to begin considering how they will work together as project groups, what will need to be included in their project plans and the roles and responsibilities of each team member. They will understand the benefits of Action Learning Sets and will consider how they will work best together and with us to get the most from the action ALS meetings

4 MODULE INFORMATION CONT. 2 Working Strategically and Managing Change 3 Commercial Awareness and Employer Engagement 4 The Inner Game The Resilient, Emotionally Intelligent Leader This module will allow delegates to appreciate the nature of the work they do and distinguish between the proportion of operational and strategic working they undertake, enabling those differences to be put into context. It will also allow delegates to appreciate that regardless of the job role, all positions can, and should, function at a strategic level. The module uses strategy as the basis on which to examine how organisations change and the impact of those people employed. The purpose of this module is to raise awareness of the importance of commercial development and how to improve employer engagement. It will explore how to develop a whole organisation approach to support a commercial culture across the college and the role and importance of each individual leader in supporting this step change. To raise understanding and personal level of psychological resilience. By assessing where they are on the Model and through various tools and exercises to develop their personal resilience and emotional management. Following this module delegates will become aware of what modifications they may wish to make to their own working patterns and explore how to most effectively focus their mattention. It will also give them greater insight into the dynamics of a changing organisation and become better equipped to engage the people around them. Raised awareness of how to adopt a commercial approach including consideration of the college brand and how to differentiate yourself from your competitors. Individually, delegates will have time to consider what they can do to support, communicate and drive culture change. An opportunity at a high level to develop a proposition and pitch for work Each delegate will have a clear understanding of their personal resilience and the key elements to strong resilience. They will have experienced and understand ways to develop and enhance their personal resilience and improve their emotional management. As well as having various tools and techniques they can use for personal individual development.

5 MODULE INFORMATION CONT. 5 The Outer Game developing your personal impact, brand, profile and presence as a Leader 6 Raising the Bar High Performing Teams To develop the delegates outer game, increasing their awareness of the importance of personal branding. The module aims to help them appreciate their personal impact, profile and presence in the organisation and how this can affect their success as a leader. Provide delegates with the ability to identify and articulate the key components of high performing teams, equipping them with the tools to address shortfalls of performance and drive increased effectiveness of their own team and those around them. Delegates will have heightened awareness of Personal Branding. They will have the opportunity to self reflect on their own personal impact and will have explored what they want their brand to be, including crafting an elevator pitch for networking. They will think about their leadership legacy and have increased awareness of how they can assess their personal impact, profile and presence in their organisation. Following completion of this module, delegates will appreciate the dynamics of how to motivate teams and how to remove the obstacles that affect performance. Delegates will also be able to identify the key requirements of success for their teams and be confident in applying the techniques in the workplace. 7 Confident Conversations Delegates will: increase their awareness of when confident conversations need to take place be able to develop strategies to construct and handle confident conversations have practised leading conversations that are impact focussed explore personal resilience strategies Delegates will be able to identify with occasions when confident conversations need to take place.they will be more skilled and able to handle confident conversations for optimum impact. They will also have increased self- awareness of their competency skill set for handling confident conversations and planned stretch activities for further personal development.

6 MODULE INFORMATION CONT. 8 Project presentations and programme review Be able to undertake constructive personal reflection of the Senior Leaders Programme using their Personal Development Plans. Each synoptic project team will present back their project outcomes, lessons learnt and next steps. Each delegate will have the opportunity to reflect on their own personal journey and their group journeys, and consider what went well and how they have developed individually and as a group. Providing an opportunity to: feedback their projects and the business case for implementation reflect on learning and share experiences with each other consider what next in terms of implementation of the project and their own leadership development celebrate success and closure of the programme
