Marie Gervacio Boston to Hong Kong International Experience is in increasing demand from our clients and is highly valued in the expanding global economy. Exciting opportunities await you in the over 140 countries where PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has offices. The GM programme has different categories of assignments to meet the requirements of the business and your needs as an individual. Strategic Deployed Strategic Deployed Assignments are key to our core business strategy where the assignment purpose is strategically driven by a clearly defined client, industry/ product/service or territory need. These assignments bring a specified business benefit to both the home and the host firms. Each Strategic Deployed (SD) Assignment will have host and home partner owners, a repatriation plan and clearly defined assignment objectives. For example: Client The assignment will improve the level of global services to one of our key clients or to a portfolio of clients, or develop a major revenue generating opportunity. Industry/product/service The assignment is instrumental in introducing a new product or service to a location, or increasing our ability to serve an industry sector. Territory The assignee will be dedicated to acquiring an important expertise that is lacking in the home territory, or sharing an expertise with the host firm (e.g. operating a foreign desk in a new location). Development Deployed Development Deployed Assignments are mainly driven by the benefits they will bring to the home firm, by developing the skill sets of selected individuals. Each Development Deployed (DD) Assignment will also have host and home partner owners, a repatriation plan and clearly defined assignment objectives. International Transfers International Transfers fulfill an important resourcing role, meeting operational and project needs in host countries and providing opportunities for our people to achieve their own objectives. However, these assignments do not have the same critical strategic drivers, host/home ownership and repatriation plan as Deployed assignments. Short-Term Assignments Short-Term Assignments last between one and twelve months they meet a range of needs for the assignee and the firm resourcing, staffing projects, transferring knowledge and skills, strengthening the network and developing the individual. EPIC Early PwC International Challenge gives staff the chance to acquire and expand critical skills that will help them to succeed in a truly global firm while experiencing a new culture, making new friends and enjoying new life experiences. The EPIC programme is open to qualified PwCstaff who maintain a track record of excellent performance and have the desire and commitment to gain international experience. It is strongly recommended that the individual fulfil their professional credential requirements in their home country before embarking on a EPIC assignment. EPIC assignments average approximately two years. Upon successful completion of an EPIC assignment you will have gained valuable international business experience that will better position you for career opportunities within the PwC global community. EPIC enables you to acquire international experience earlier in your career and to be part of the growing and deepening global PwC network. You will have the chance to work with interesting clients and to build relationships that can last throughout your career and beyond.

3 Map out your international assignment The Attributes Needed to Succeed International assignments are worthwhile and enjoyable but they are also challenging! All candidates, whatever the type of assignment, will need to meet the following professional and personal criteria: Relevant professional experience Good cross cultural skills (e.g., flexibility, adaptability, strong interpersonal communication skills, and the capacity to see things from others perspective) Language ability, where applicable Drive, motivation and a desire to learn In many territories, professional qualifications (e.g., degrees, licences, certifications, etc.) Timing The best timing for an international assignment will vary from one territory to the next and by individual. Please consult your local Global Mobility contact, who can give you advice specific to your situation. The start date of an assignment will depend not only on the location but also on your Service Line and the needs of the home firm. For example, in Assurance, many territories prefer you join them prior to their busy season. Typically, it takes four to six months for visas, work permits, etc. to be obtained. You should bear this in mind when deciding the best time to make the first approach. Of course you will also receive the additional financial support which we give to Deployed assignees. You will find information about current long term and short term international assignment opportunities on the Job Posting Board (JPB) a web-based system, open to everyone in the firm worldwide.
