Liquidity: la aixa has an excellent level of liquidity, with sound capitalization sources. This fact ensures that the Institution will be able to face business growth with guarantees and satisfy its customers credit requirements. Risk Management: la aixa adopts a prudent and rigorous risk management policy aimed at ensuring optimal solvency levels. Welfare Projects (Obra Social): Promoting and sponsoring community and social outreach projects is one of the founding principles of la aixa. The Welfare Projects is the leading Spanish private foundation that finances and promotes social, educational, cultural and scientific activities. la aixa raised its contribution to Welfare Projects in 2008 to EUR 500 million. Solvency: Solvency of a financial institution is the measure of its capacity to respond to adverse situations that might imply risk for the organisation and threaten its assets. la aixa works to reduce its risk profile and thereby, increase solvency. The Group s solvency levels are among the highest in the Spanish and European financial system. Stakeholders: The set of parties, groups or institutions that affect or are affected by the actions of the business as a whole. The stakeholders of la aixa are customers, employees and society as a whole. The Institution has set up open channels for dialogue with these groups that also comprise the governing bodies of the organisation. Sustainable Financing: la aixa accepts its responsibility for sustainable development and applies preventative mechanisms to avoid any potential risks associated with its funding activity that might adversely affect the environment and the sustainable development of society. Project Finance: Financing mechanisms for large-scale projects where Project debt and equity are used to financing the Project thereby mitigating the financial and economical risk to a project sponsor or sponsors. Work / Life Balance: The compatibility between family or personal life and working life is a commitment which enhances the well-being and balance of our employees. la aixa contributes towards this by implementing measures to encourage work / life balance and that subsequently generate a positive impact on the service we provide for our customers.
