Grantees will also learn about the new legislation s emphasis on career pathways as a way to create more efficient and customer-centered approaches to education and training. Schochet, Senior Fellow, Mathematica Policy Research The YCC study team from Mathematica Policy Research will meet with the grantees selected for the lotterybased impact study for this breakout session. Mathematica will review the key conditions needed to make the evaluation a success, discuss upcoming milestones for its implementation, and answer questions. Grantees will then share their best practices for generating oversubscription through outreach and recruitment. *This session is only for grantees that will be participating in the Impact Study. Grantees can share what's working, what upgrades may need to be made in the coming year as well obtain information and feedback from their YCC colleagues. MONITORING 101: EXAMPLES FROM THE FRONTLINE C-5521, Room 4 Raymond Smith, Federal Project Officer, Region 3 USDOL Tiffani Thomas, Federal Project Officer, Region 6 USDOL This breakout is designed to prepare grantees for what to expect when your Federal Project Officer (FPO) comes out to monitor your Employment and Training Administration (ETA) grant. Core monitoring reviews or enhanced desk monitoring reviews are a required, routine function of administrating ETA grants. Therefore, your FPO is required to monitor your performance via an onsite monitoring review or enhanced desk monitoring review at least once during the grant period of performance. The ultimate goal being to ensure that agreed upon products and services are delivered, and that all outcome goals are achieved. 3:30 3:45 P.M. BREAK 3:45 4:30 P.M. Local employers and business leaders will share with grantees firsthand accounts and experiences of working with public schools and other intermediary organizations. LABOR MARKET INFORMATION C-5521, Room 4 Lauren Fairley, Workforce Analyst, Division of National Programs, Tools, and Technical Assistance, ETA/USDOL In this breakout, grantees will familiarize themselves with sources of labor market information. The presenter will walk through features of My Next Move the web-based interactive tool that program staff and students can use to learn about career options. Grantees will also learn how to explore different careers and find occupational information including job openings, job outlook information, salaries, apprenticeships, and related education and training programs in states and local areas where YCC programs exist. BUDGET CONTROLS FOR PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS (Live Webinar Recording) Maggie Ewell, Office of Grants Management, ETA/USDOL C-5310, Room 1A & 1B This breakout will outline the changes in the budget modification process between the federal awarding agency and the grant recipient.
