During his career, Gavin has been involved in precedent-setting legal decisions and numerous judgments. His expertise also extends to the commercial side of shipping including structuring arrangements, mortgage foreclosures, chartering arrangements, ship sales and related commercial work. Gavin has been named by Legal 500 as an expert in shipping law and he has a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law from the University of Cape Town as well as BA and LLB degrees from the University of Cape Town.
