22 Transit Signal Priority City of San Antonio: $10 M bond package to upgrade 30 signals, 2070 signal controllers, and improve ADA/pedestrian facilities at all signalized intersections VIA MTA: Entire fleet has latest AVL system hardware and latest Transit Master software Connection: No need for emitters Software being developed allows AVL information (polled every 10 seconds) to be interpreted by the CoSA i2 Traffic Control System All TSP requests are sent wirelessly from the bus to the i2 system and from the i2 system to controllers on the street

23 Transit Signal Priority TSP Requests Vehicle AVL information (includes location, speed, schedule adherence, direction) is downloaded by Siemens i2 Traffic Control i2 determines which intersection to send the priority request 2070 control and Next Phase determine whether an extended green or an early green is needed (and which phase to steal green time from)
