4 1 FORWARD 1.1 CONTENT This document describes the functionalities as enabled by the application (the IV term means an information service for travelers). 1.2 INFORMATION SERVICE FOR TRAVELERS The information service for travelers (SIV in Italian) is used in the Public Transport to inform the travelers on the transport service news. In its most elementary version, it is made of simple timetables which show the stop times of buses for each individual line and stop. The modern technologies provide the means to display additional bits of information, such as: how to optimally plan a route to reach a specific destination; comparison of actual stop times compared with the schedule, thus taking into account traffic conditions and other possible interferences; information relevant to safety; commercial content information. These bits of information can be circulated in different ways by using, for example: computers connected to the Internet; smart and palm phones; information displays at stops; information displays and voice messages on board and outside the bus; other devices (e.g. validators, vending machines etc. ). The SIV is usually delivered as an accessorial service of a Sistema di Ausilio all Esercizio (SAE or FMS - Fleet Management System or AVM - Automatic Vehicle Monitoring), hence the most commonly used acronym SAE-IV. 1.3 ET - THE EASY TICKETING ET - The Easy Ticketing, is the AEP proposal for the large, medium and small Transport Companies to easily and efficiently implement an Electronic Ticketing System which utilizes the AEP devices. ET The Easy Ticketing has been designed to allow gradual upgrades: it can just be initially the introduction to Electronic Ticketing and then grow with the Company s increasing necessity. ET - The Easy Ticketing is based on a multi-company structure and is then fit for Companies who work synergistically. 1.4 ET-MINIAVM ET-miniAVM (ET-miniSAE in French, ET-miniFMS in English) is the module name of ET The Easy Ticketing which adds to an Electronic Ticketing System the SAE/AVM functions but bot carrying the proverbial high costs. ET-miniAVM offers the following functions: Network definition (stops, lines, line variants); drivers definitions; E00.EN_ET-MINIIV.DOCX 4/10

5 service definitions (shifts and rides); real-time vehicle position control and activity logging; board-to-board and board-to-ground communication manager; service regularity analysis. ET-miniAVM can indeed provide on board SIV related information, such as: the command for the external ride indicator displays; indication of next stop through the driver console and validator panels; indication of next stop through the internal display. 1.5 ET-MINIIV is a new ET The Easy Ticketing module which works jointly with ET-miniAVM and provides services for the users to consult the service information relevant to a specific bus stop. is a service that the Company offers through its specialized web site; it is not necessary to install an App and a recent commercial browser would fit for purpose. Any PC, smartphone or tablet from any brand and regardless of the operating system, can be used. interfaces to ET-CSC through a web service, so to get the information on planned services and the data coming from the current services (e.g. the actual transit times at stops, which are communicated to the central systems by the vehicles) E00.EN_ET-MINIIV.DOCX 5/10

6 2 HOW TO USE THE MODULE 2.1 CONTENT This chapter describes how to use. 2.2 I M AT A BUS STOP... A transport service user is located at a bus stop and wishes to find out: the lines serving that stop; next stops which can be reached for each individual line; the buses approaching that stop; The planned transit times and the expected arrival times at the various destinations. There is a specific QR-code displayed on a panel at each stop. The user does not have to digit any data and can instead point his mobile device at the panel to get the link to the web site as to get the information page of that stop. Pointing at the QR code, the web page shows the information of that stop E00.EN_ET-MINIIV.DOCX 6/10

7 2.3 I M NOT AT A BUS STOP... If the user is not located by a stop, he/she can still consult the site and visualize the stops within a specific settable distance range from his/her position. Were the localization services not be available, the stop can still be selected manually. If the localization services are active, the application proposes a number of stops within a radius E00.EN_ET-MINIIV.DOCX 7/10

8 2.4 IN ANY CASE... Once the stop has been selected in one of the described methods, ET-minIV reports: A list of all rides of all lines for that stop, in that day starting from the current time. To take into consideration also delayed rides, reports also those for which the transit is expected within a specific (configurable) time before the current time. For each ride it is shown: line; planned arrival time; possible expected delayed (or advanced) time in minutes; main stops and terminals. Result output: list of transiting rides on the indicated stop E00.EN_ET-MINIIV.DOCX 8/10

9 By selecting one ride, you can see the list of ride stops, the planned transit time and the actual delay/advance. The user not only can then view the progress of the vehicle on its ride, but also view the reachable stops. Ride details. The departure carried an 11 minutes advance, which eventually became a 3 minutes delay (the data has been artificially offset to show the functionality) E00.EN_ET-MINIIV.DOCX 9/10
