ASSET is accredited to both CHAS and TIVA, and employ professional Health & Safety staff. All installers are trained and hold Sector Scheme 2(b) VRS tickets for installation and CSCS cards. As part of ASSET s continuous improvement programme we are always updating and improving our systematic training regime. With the Work-At-Height Regulations in force from April 2005, ASSET increased safety measures by equipping our vehicles with specialist safety frame fall arrest equipment. 7 ZONEGUARD Successfully tested to En1317 Standard and accepted by UK Highways Agency and tested to USA standard nchrp 350 and MASH 08, Federal Highway Administration accepted to Tl-4 and Test level (Tl)-3 and Tl-4, ZOnEGUARD is the lowest deflecting portable steel highway barrier in the world. Energy absorbing permanent and temporary steel barrier, ZONEGUARD barrier stabilizes as vehicles drive onto the ZONEGUARD foot limiting barrier deflection. Easily transported ZONEGUARD weighs 92 kg per metre enabling up to 180 m to be efficiently transported on one vehicle. Easily and rapidly installed ZONEGUARD can be easily positioned and connects using ZONEGUARD speed joints, at approximately 300 m per hour, with integral drainage channels in foot section for ease of handling and manoeuvrability with fork lift. ZONEGUARD portable barrier system is comprised of pressed and galvanized steel panels assembled in 12 m or 4 m sections each being 800 mm high, 700 mm wide and 160 mm wide at top. The ZONEGUARD foot is 200 mm wide on each side ensuring low centre of gravity compared to other steel portable barriers that do not have a foot section. Permanent or Temporary ZonEGuArd can be used as emergency protection for highway structures with up to 300 m installed in an hour, reducing risk to operators, drivers and workforce with fewer vehicle movements. TB32 test with ZONEGUARD pinned every 12 m for minimum Dynamic Deflection 100 mm, Permanent Deflection 100 mm. Speciality components available for tight curves, bridge expansion joints and where access through barrier is required. 9 VARIOGUARD Temporary Safety first from ASSET International. is fully tested to BS En 1317 performance levels n1, n2 and H2. Different working width classes are available, dependent on anchorage configurations. When used as a temporary safety barrier is usually anchored at each end with four 500 mm long anchor pins into pre-drilled holes. With a huge rental pool of located at depots around the UK and Ireland, small installations to many kilometres can be serviced. Emergency call-outs to any part of the UK are routinely responded to within hours. ASSET International provides this service, both with our own installers and with a nationwide network of specialist sub-contractors who cover every part of the country. There are currently over 260 people trained to install ZOnEGUARD and. It is a requirement of Sector Scheme 2(b) that installers of vehicle restraint systems are fully trained on courses approved by Lantra. It is also a mandatory requirement, that the companies employing these installers are Quality Assured under the Sector Scheme, and have temporary safety barrier installation listed as part of the scope of their Quality Assurance. 13 VARIOGUARD Permanent In cases where utilities have to be moved, or a large amount of preparation is required for the installation of conventional barriers, ASSET International s is an ideal solution. The weight of only 100 kg per linear metre means that bridge deck loading is kept to a minimum. Anchored at each end of a bridge deck, can accommodate tight horizontal and vertical curves. Manholes and access points to ducts can be bridged and accessed with site-specific designed and built units. can be used in roadways, on up-stands and on kerbs. 15 VARIOGUARD Single Sided ASSET International s SInGlE SIDED is a rigid energy absorbing barrier system that offers protection to both the travelling public and pedestrians. The galvanised steel 4 m long sections are delivered to site pre-assembled in 12 m lengths for ease of delivery and rapid installation. With its narrow foot profile, SINGLE SIDED is the ideal application for central reserves and verges where the requirement for set-back and clearance cannot be obtained with other barrier systems. It is ideally suited where PVCBs are unacceptable due to the presence of services or other constraints and obstructions, such as signs and lighting columns. SINGLE SIDED complies with BS EN 1317 at performance level N2, with a dynamic deflection (clearance) of only 300 mm. The required tests for this standard are :- TB kg vehicle TB tonne vehicle at 70 mph on a 20º impact Often used as a permanent central reservation barrier, SINGLE SIDED is bolted at 4 m centres to a concrete base approximately 450 mm wide by 300 mm deep, (different bolt configurations can be used for bridge decks). SINGLE SIDED is listed in the Highways Agency Approved Road Restraint Systems with a Working Width class of W2. However in the test report compiled by TRL it is stated, Since the flanged base of the SINGLE SIDED extends 150 mm in from the traffic face, the set back distance of the barrier can be reduced by 150 mm without adversely affecting the performance of the barrier. As a consequence the Working Width can be reduced by a corresponding distance. This gives a Working Width of only 575 mm, i.e. W1. 17 SOLOGUARD ASSET International s SOlOGUARD is a safety barrier for carriageway crossover points allowing opening and closing by two operators in just a few minutes. SOlOGUARD is instantly moveable, allowing the flow of traffic to be altered quickly and safely by simply removing 4 securing pins and winding down 4 sets of hidden wheels. ASSET International Health and safety ZOnEGUARD Many emergency crossing points on motorways and trunk roads have SOlOGUARD installed. Maintenance crossing points at tunnels and bridges around the UK are also protected with this system. SOLOGUARD is part of the range of products and can be fitted into existing safety fences using transition units. Maintenance Crossing Points to lengths of 150 m and Emergency Crossing Points with 24 m lengths can be accommodated. PROTECTIOn OF CROSSOVER AnD COnTRAFlOW SITUATIOnS SOLOGUARD can easily be moved; so when crossovers have to be frequently opened and closed, the system can simply be raised off the road using a special jacking device and wheeled into its new position. When space is limited, road markings can be applied close to the SOLOGUARD base. High quality reflectors fixed onto the posts provide the additional visibility needed for safe guidance at night, or in wet or foggy conditions. MULTI APPLICATIONAL SAFETY SYSTEM The ASSET International M.A.S.S. base unit is a steel barrier consisting of hot dip galvanised elements powder coated in highly visible safety colours. Individual base units are 150 cm long x 50 cm wide x 42 cm high and weigh 48 kg. Each unit links together via vertical pins. The various M.A.S.S. top sections can be added as specific jobs demand. Specially adapted units enable the system to rotate through 180. SITEGUARD provides a safe and secure working environment around airport terminals, buildings and roads. Where passengers must follow designated path ways, high visibility VISIRAIL and PEDESTRIAN GUARD guides. SCREENGUARD is the ideal choice on sites where excessive noise could be a problem and where screening of car parks or storage yards is essential. VEHIClE ROll-On ROll-OFF STABIlITY: When an errant vehicle drives on to the base of the system, it helps to stabilise the barrier during impact. M.A.S.S. 1 has been fully tested to T2 W5. 21 M.A.S.S. MULTI APPLICATIONAL SAFETY SYSTEM non-permanent FIxInG: The high visibility M.A.S.S. base units are usually mounted unfixed to the road. Terminal anchorage is achieved with a steel buffer filled with sandbags. No coring or drilling into the road is necessary. Up to 230 m of M.A.S.S. can be delivered to site, pallet packed on a single vehicle. SIMPlE InSTAllATIOn: M.A.S.S. is extremely quick and easy to assemble due to its unique plug-in section. Maximum safety is achieved together with a minimum of traffic-flow disruption during the assembly period. Assembly, dismantling and repositioning requires minimal time. Consisting of a series of W-beam fender panels supported by diaphragms, the QUEST CEn features an innovative integrated front trigger mechanism. During impacts, this mechanism releases the support frame assembly to absorb the energy of the impact. The system is designed to telescope rearward during head-on impacts to absorb the energy of impact and to redirect vehicles during side angle impacts. A38 Bodmin SAFETY IS OUR BUSINESS

The QUADGUARD CEn system has been tested in Europe as a re-directive crash cushion to the maximum 110 km/h using En criteria. To fully comply with the definition of a System Type tested crash cushion, the QUADGUARD CEn has been further tested at 100 km/h, 80 km/h, and 50 km/h. During angle impacts at angles up to 15, the vehicles are safely redirected back into the original travel path. After a design impact, the QUADGUARD CEN system can be quickly and easily refurbished by a two man team. The majority of the components are reusable after a design impact. 27 CRASH CUSHIONS VECU-STOP The progressive concept of ASSET International s VECU-STOP crash cushion system is based on more than forty years of experience in designing road restraint systems. The full "family" of tests, as detailed in En 1317 part 3, has been successfully completed and approved. En 1317 approved to performance class 110 km/h. VECU-STOP models can accommodate many different layouts, whether parallel or tapered in design. All models of the VECU-STOP crash cushion system consists of hollow cylinders arranged in rows. They are highly effective energy and impact absorbing elements which are guided by a steel wire rope system. Once installed, the system elements of the VECU-STOP crash cushion do not require any maintenance. Full corrosion protection is provided by a hot dipped galvanised finish. All components are made of steel and may be completely recycled. The usual method of anchorage is to install a pre-fabricated steel former, then fill it with concrete. Threaded anchorages welded to the reinforcing bars enable the VECU-STOP crash cushion to be bolted straight into place on the reinforced concrete foundation. VECU-STOP crash cushions are also available for use on approach ends of when space is limited, or when the approach flare cannot be accommodated due to site constraints. 31 Quality and Environment Currently ASSET International has accreditation to BS En ISO Quality Management Systems, OHSAS Occupation Health and Safety Management and BS En ISO , Environmental Management. ASSET continues to strive towards becoming a sustainable organisation and will continue to implement sustainable development to enable the company to become a more successful business. As a business ASSET recognise the importance of the environment, not just as a physical entity but with regards to job specific pollution, i.e. noise and vibration. These forms of pollution are monitored on a regular basis and are reflected in comprehensive method statements and risk analysis. As part of ASSET s standard process route, regular audits are carried out on installations and uplift removals of our Sector Scheme 2(b) accredited installation teams. The feedback from these audits include the identification of both good and best practices which are then fed back into product specific training courses provided by ASSET s technical and training team. Our comprehensive training of installers and staff includes environmental awareness, and we continually strive to ensure that we exceed our legal and moral environmental obligations.
