7 SYSTEMS OVERVIEW PaCIM The key to cross-system passenger information A data hub that connects external systems and standard interfaces - this is the key to BMG MIS, which offers passengers travel information across systems and different transport facilities. Vehicle communications This data hub can link a variety of ITCS systems and other transport operators via VDV/SIRI, including links to proprietary interfaces. It merges data and makes its retrieval possible via a variety of data clients. The data hub is also provided with a module, which makes the provision of up-to-date data possible via the VDV 453DFI interface, independent of the manufacturer of the display and information systems. Our Passenger and Customer Information Management system (PaCIM) is the platform for this data hub. PaCIM provides passengers at all times, at all stations and all stops, with up-to-date information about the next connections, possible deviations from regular schedules and information that ensures a good connection. This information is then provided via display systems, public address systems and other applications, ensuring passengers of a seamless flow of information. Passenger information PaCIM provides the operator of passenger information systems with maximum support for daily operations, a continuous overview of the current situation and allows the input of manual changes into the system. We integrate existing procedures and the proven structures of our clients into our passenger information system PaCIM, by adapting our system to their guidelines and requirements. Our highly energy-efficient display systems, which are suitable for installation in full sunlight and provide a flexible display of information, are based on LCD technology. The integrated and intelligent energy management in our newest generation of display systems makes a substantial contribution to a high environmental friendliness and a reduction in operating costs. 10

11 ENERGY-EFFICIENT DISPLAY SYSTEMS BARRIER-FREE DISPLAY SYSTEMS Barrier-free display systems Text-to-speech, which is also known as speech synthesis, will usually be deployed where large quantities of information must be visualised and updated continuously. With this technology, all the written text can be converted into speech. An acoustic text file will be created that is linked to the current display data. This file can then be broadcast over an integrated loud-speaker system. 11

12 Cable-free information systems Especially in rural areas, we have specialised in cable-free information systems for public transport. These are fed with data through by GPRS technology and are provided with electricity through solar panels. 12
