1 March 2004 FINE-CLAD M-8761 Product Code: Carboxylated Polyester DESCRIPTION FINE-CLAD M-8761 is a pre-catalyzed carboxyl functional polyester designed to cure with bisphenol-a type epoxy curatives at a 50/50 polyester to epoxy ratio for hybrid systems. Glass Transition Temperature, C 59 STORAGE FINE-CLAD M-8761 resin is supplied in 25-kg bags. Store below 25 C in a dry place to ensure a useful shelf life of at least one year. Read the FINE-CLAD M-8761 Material Safety Data Sheet before handling, storing, or using this product. Dust may be irritating and may present fire and explosion hazard. Use only with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing dust. Avoid contact with eye or skin.

3 STANDARD WHITE STARTING FORMULATION Scope: A robust starting formulation for a standard white, unfilled 50/50 hybrid was developed and tested for physical properties. Results: At various bake schedules the physical properties are maintained at the highest levels. Tips: 1. The use of Troy Powdermate 505 PFL at 1.0% allows for a smoother surface and higher initial gloss value. 2. 4 CURE CURVE Scope: A cure curve for FINE-CLAD M-8761 was developed, based on a standard white formulation. Cure is defined as suggested oven dwell time at temperature necessary to achieve 160/160 in.-lbs. impact resistance. 5 OVERBAKE PROPERTIES Scope: Evaluate the color change on overbake at 204 C of FINE-CLAD M-8761 using a standard white formulation. Results: M-8761 has lower initial color and comparable overbake color when compared to a widely used competitive resin. 6 CORROSION RESISTANCE PROPERTIES (ASTM B117) Scope: Evaluate the corrosion resistance of FINE-CLAD M-8761 using a standard white formulation, on B-1000 film thickness of mils.
