2 th The 6 International Conference on Creep, Fatigue and Creep-Fatigue Interaction (CF-6) will be organized by Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, India, during January 22-25, The first conference in this series was held in the year 1987 and the latest in the year 2008 (CF-5). More than 250 delegates including 40 delegates from overseas attended the CF-5 conference. CF-6 is being organised jointly with the Kalpakkam Chapter and the Metal Sciences Division of The Indian Institute of Metals. Eminent experts in the areas of creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue interaction, materials development and high temperature design will be invited to share their knowledge and perspective on these topics during this conference. SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE Performance of materials under creep, fatigue and creep-fatigue loading conditions is of prime concern in the design, operation and reliability of high temperature components. The challenges involved in addressing the growing global energy demands with lower carbon foot print have to be met by advanced fossil fuel-based power plants, advanced nuclear reactor systems and fusion reactor systems, all of which involve complex technologies and operating environments raising new challenges for materials development and understanding their mechanical behaviour. New materials are being developed to meet applications for components operating at increasingly higher temperatures and aggressive environments. Life extension of existing operating power plants is attractive in view of the high capital costs and environmental concerns while establishing new power plants. Structural integrity assessment and life management require innovative methods for materials testing, assessment of damage, remnant life prediction and materials modeling. This conference aims to provide a forum for interaction and exchange of knowledge among professionals working in these areas. 3 VENUE The venue of the conference will be hotel Radisson Resort Temple Bay, Mamallapuram ( located 60 Km south of Chennai city (formerly called as Madras) and 3 Km from IGCAR. Mamallapuram has various historic monuments, particularly, monolithic rock carvings, th th built largely between the 7 and the 9 centuries, and has been classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. Chennai is well connected by international airlines from all over the world. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Authors are invited to submit abstracts of their papers in about 250 words, to the Convenor of the conference. The text shall be typed in 12 point Times New Roman font with single line spacing. The address of the corresponding author shall be provided in the abstract. REGISTRATION FEE Participants of CF-6 are requested to register before December 15, The registration fee covers the delegate kit, conference proceedings, tea and lunch on the conference days. The registration fee can be paid in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of CF-6, payable at State Bank of India, Kalpakkam. The following is the registration fee for CF-6. 4 INDIRA GANDHI CENTRE FOR ATOMIC RESEARCH Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research was established in The Centre is engaged in broad-based multidisciplinary programme of scientific research and advanced engineering directed towards the development of fast breeder reactor technology in India. IGCAR has successfully operated the Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR) for the last twenty five years with a unique carbide fuel which laid the foundation for the 500 MWe Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) which is in an advanced stage of construction at Kalpakkam. 233 KAMINI, a unique research reactor using a U based fuel, is also operational at IGCAR. Over the years, IGCAR has established comprehensive R & D facilities covering the entire spectrum of fast reactor technology related to sodium technology, reactor engineering, reactor physics, metallurgy and materials, chemistry of fuels and its materials, fuel reprocessing, reactor safety, control and instrumentation, computer applications etc., and has developed a strong base in a variety of disciplines related to this advanced technology. It also offers sunny beaches and beach resorts. Crocodile Bank, about 20 Km from the venue, is a world famous crocodile breeding and research centre. The reptiles are kept in their natural habitat in open pools and can be viewed from safe proximity. Kancheepuram the Golden City of Temples situated 50 Km from Mamallapuram is a famous tourist spot. The 2000 years old city was the historical th th capital of Pallava kingdom between 6 and 8 century. Pondicherry, situated 90 Km south of Mamallapuram was a port city and was earlier a French colony. Pondicherry is the home to Aurobindo Ashram, Auroville, beaches, churches and temples and attracts a large number of tourists. Auroville is a universal town where men and women from 45 countries, from all age groups, social classes, backgrounds and cultures, live in peace and harmony to realise human unity. Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, is the fourth largest metropolis in India. Chennai is a gracious city and popularly regarded as the "Gateway to the South". Chennai is very well known for its rich culture and heritage. Music, dance and all other art forms are cherished and nurtured in Chennai. There are a number of important places of tourist interests in Chennai such as Fort St. George, Santhome Cathedral Bascilica, War Memorial, Parks, Museums, Art Galleries, Beaches and Shopping Malls.
