2 A brief about NLCIL NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL), incorporated in 1956, is a leading Public Sector Company engaged in Lignite Mining and Lignite based Power Generation. It is one of the profit making Navratna CPSU of Government of India. NLCIL views its business as an opportunity to set up mechanisms for sustainable socio-economic development of its operating regions and also for the Nation Building rd efforts. It has entered the 63 year of its glorious existence. NLCIL, which has four Open Cast Lignite Mines at present, is operating one of the biggest open cast Lignite Mine in Asia. From the initial capacity of 6.5 MTPA of Lignite, NLCIL has grown into a production capacity of 30.6 MTPA with OB removal of 165 Mm3 per annum in a span of six decades. It has targeted a growth plan to increase its capacity to produce MTPA of Lignite by To add feathers in its crown, NLCIL is venturing into Coal Mining with the recently allocated blocks viz. Talabira-II & III (23 MTPA of Peak Capacity) in Odisha and Pachwara South (11 MTPA of Peak Capacity) in Jharkhand for meeting the Downstream Coal based power projects (5000 MW by the year 2025). At present, NLCIL has five pit head Thermal Power Stations with a capacity of 3240 MW. A new TPS of capacity 1000 MW is under commissioning at Neyveli. NLCIL has entered into Joint Venture with other companies and a 1000 MW Coal based TPS is already in operation at Tuticorin, Tamilnadu. Another 1980 MW TPS is under construction at Ghatampur in UP. Keeping pace with the changing business trends, NLCIL has diversified into renewable energy. As green technology initiatives, it has commissioned 141 MW Solar power in Neyveli (which includes 1 MW roof-top solar), 300 MW Solar Power and 51 MW Wind Power in Tamilnadu. Work is nearing completion for 200 MW Solar Power Projects in Tamilnadu. NLCIL is now concentrating on Renewable Energy and has plans to install 4000 MW Solar plant and 251 MW Wind Power plant by Solar Power Project works on 709 MW in Tamilnadu and 20 MW in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are under progress. NLCIL plans to increase its Mining Capacity to MTPA and Power Generation Capacity to 21,011 MW by 2025.

Government e-marketplace (GeM) is the national portal to make public procurement transparent & simple. Language Articles must be submitted in standard English with Arial Font. Contents All pages must contain original text, typed, single spaced and in single column format. Articles should not endorse any proprietary products or services or commercial organizations. Materials must be identified by generic names or specifications rather than trade names. If trade name is used, it may be cited in only one place in the text. 5 ABOUT THE VENUE The venue is at Neyveli, the Lignite City in Tamil Nadu which is situated at about 200 kms. away from Chennai Airport. It is accessible by road within about three hours drive. Places to Visit : Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Auroville (Matri mandir), Promenade Beach, Chunnambar Water Sports, Ancient churches etc. Gangaikonda Cholapuram : (54 km from Neyveli) It was built by Rajendra Chola, the son and successor of Rajaraja Chola. As of 2014, the ancient city exists as a small forlorn village in the Ariyalur District. The Gangaikondaan temple is an architectural and engineering marvel. Chidambaram Nataraja Temple : (40 km from Neyveli) It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the town of Chidambaram. The temple is known as the foremost of all temples and has influenced worship, architecture, sculpture and performance art for over two millennium. Pichavaram : (50 km from Neyveli) The Pichavaram Mangrove Forest is the world's second largest mangrove forest. Pichavaram mangrove forest is located between two prominent estuaries. There are more than 400 water routes available for boating.
