3 Job Description Job Title: Manager Regular Giving Hours: 35 per week Responsible To: Senior Manager Works With/Key Contact: Individual Giving Team, wider Fundraising Team, Comms Team, external agencies Location: London Duration Permanent Responsible For: Senior DM Officer (plus team of DMO and DM Exec) + 2 DM Officers Salary: 38,450 Context and Background Established in 1860, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home aims to never turn away a dog or cat in need of our help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. We are champions for, and supporters of, vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting changes for animals in our society. We currently operate from three centres in Battersea London, Old Windsor in Berkshire and Brands Hatch in Kent. Every year, we care for over 7,000 dogs and cats. As part of a transformational growth strategy the Home has invested heavily in a new fundraising team and activities, increasing income more than tenfold since 2010 and substantially reducing an over reliance on legacy income. Our fundraising programme has grown rapidly across all areas; most notably by developing a significant individual donor base, establishing a major giving programme, launching new commercial activities and developing our events and community fundraising activity. Yet the opportunity to increase our impact for animals through growing a significant and sustainable income base remains considerable and our fundraising team are set to achieve ambitious year-on-year growth in order transform the lives of the animals in our care. Our talented and award-winning team is vibrant, ambitious and well respected. It s therefore an exciting time to work at one of the country s most loved and best-known animal charities and work as part of one of the fastest growing fundraising teams. sits within Individual Giving and is responsible for raising millions of pounds of income through a mixture of regular giving, cash, raffle, legacy and in memory giving. We have developed our programme from scratch and dramatically grown our supporter base to around 200k active donors. Whilst this is a huge achievement already, there is still so much more we believe we can do and the DM team will continue to grow our income at pace over the next 5-10 years in order to expand our impact for animals. Main purpose of the role Develop operational and strategic budgets and plans for the Regular Giving team that will maximise income through working across a mix of donor acquisition and retention the plans to ensure campaigns are delivered on time and on budget.

4 Overall Objectives Develop the income received through individual giving programmes and the number of supporters through the effective operational management and implementation of the Regular Giving programme. Line manage the Regular Giving team, setting objectives, undertaking regular one to ones, performance reviews and identifying development requirements for team to ensure they can fulfill the requirements of their roles. Develop, implement and manage accurate budgets and operational plans for the Regular Giving team which meet the wider departmental and organizational needs in time with BDCH planning schedules. To acquire new regular givers in the most cost-effective way through testing scalable and sustainable recruitment channels Responsibilities Develop, implement and manage accurate budgets and operational plans for the Regular Giving team which meet the wider departmental and organisational needs. o Develop, monitor and manage the Regular Giving budget, reporting to the Direct Marketing Manager on income and expenditure and highlighting variances in a timely manner and in line with BDCH budget timescales. o Setting up and monitoring monthly income and expenditure across the Regular Giving programme, making sure information is accurate and reconciled where necessary. o Updating direct marketing team reports and income, spend and KPIs as requested by the Manager. o Work closely across Individual Giving and Finance teams to reconcile income and provide relevant management information Operational management and implementation of the Regular Giving programme including: o Monitor and evaluate direct marketing campaigns against budgeted targets and KPIs, reporting progress to relevant managers. o Produce regular reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations to improve future activity and feed into longer term strategic plans o Project planning and implementation across a range of media channels o Identify and research new recruitment channels for testing that are scalable and sustainable to acquire regular givers in the most cost effective way as well as maintaining existing levels of regular giving recruitment. o Manage donor contact strategies and develop new, or redevelop existing, products and methods to support donor recruitment and retention to maximise long term loyalty and financial value to the Home. o Benchmark our Regular Giving programmes against key competitors for creative and cost effectiveness o Proactively ensure all materials produced are accurate and compliant with relevant data protection and gift aid legislation. o Undertake all activities in line with best practice standards and processes as set out by the Institute of Fundraising, Fundraising Standards Board, Public Fundraising Regulatory Association and any other bodies as prompted by the Manager. Person Specification Essential qualifications, experience and skills A track record of successfully motivating, leading and developing high performance teams, including setting clearly defined objectives and managing performance. Demonstrable experience of budgeting and forecasting multi-million-pound income and expenditure budgets using complex and multidimensional projection tools.

6 Proven experience of planning, implementing and evaluating successful Regular Giving acquisition and retention programmes with demonstrable understanding of the key performance indicators affecting outcomes. Specialist knowledge of Regular Giving acquisition and retention, across a range of media channels including direct dialogue, mail and telephone. Proven problem solving and decision-making skills with a track record of taking responsibility for the decisions you have made. Excellent standard of computer literacy, with particular reference to MS Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook as well as an understanding of marketing databases (ideally Raisers Edge). Proven experience of working constructively and collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers, negotiating costs, managing relationships and ensuring positive outcomes. Ability to manage and prioritise a high workload and multiple complex issues and tasks in a changing environment with tight deadlines. Experience of keeping up to date with and applying good practice in your role particularly the standards and processes set out by the Institute of Fundraising, Fundraising Standards Board, Public Fundraising Regulatory Association and any other bodies Proven interpersonal and consultative skills, including the ability to communicate, present, negotiate, influence and build credibility with colleagues and external parties.
