R&D STRATEGY Demnstrate 500 kw PV inverter perfrmance by cnnecting the inverter t NREL s megawatt scale grid simulatrs, PV simulatrs, lad banks and real-time electric distributin feeder mdels. IMPACT Increase PV saturatin withut negatively impacting the distributin grid thrugh mdifying the behavirs f inverters.

10 10 NREL + SlarCity and HECO Energy Systems Integratin TECHNOLOGY ADDRESSED Intercnnectin challenges when cnnecting distributed PV int the electrical distributin grid such as in Hawaii (HECO). STRATEGY Inverters frm varius manufacturers will be tested at ESIF using NREL s unique pwer hardware-in-the-lp capability t evaluate system-level issues such as anti-islanding and vlt-var supprt. IMPACT HECO filed with the PUC t mdify their intercnnectin plicies t allw siting f PV systems with slar inverters n neighbrhd distributin circuits up t 250% f minimum daytime lad (MDL). Previusly the full study requirements kicked in at 120% MDL
