2 Introduction The Formula 1.0 Gliding Grand Prix is a new and innovative gliding competition bringing the growing sport of gliding into the 21 st century. The world-leading competition brings pilots from across Australia and the world to Leeton for a series of exhilarating races of up to 500 kilometres. In a world-first, the competition is designed to be safe, accessible and fun with the rules placing a limit on high-performing aircraft. In 2017, the hugely successful inaugural competition was held in Leeton New South Wales, where 26 pilots competed to be crowned champion. At the competition, our strategic focus on live interviews, live tracking and high-quality digital content enthralled our large local and online audiences, and impressed our many generous sponsors. The local community were just as thrilled, benefiting from the $50,000 the competition injected into the local economy over 10 days. We are planning an even bigger competition in 2018 with 40 pilots, 200 family members and more than 5,000 online supporters estimated to join us. In 2018, we will work hard to create value for our sponsors and deliver an exciting, social and family-friendly atmosphere for spectators on the ground and online.
