Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI What HAVEN Does 1 in 3 women in Michigan are affected by domestic violence. 1 in 5 women in the U.S. experience an attempted or completed rape. No one, regardless of their background, is immune from domestic and sexual victimization. Although their situations may differ, all survivors have something in common: they didn't ask for this to happen; they didn't deserve it; and they were powerless to prevent it. The incidences of these crimes are more pervasive than both hunger and homelessness. For the past 40 years, HAVEN has been Oakland County s only comprehensive program for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. HAVEN provides shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational programming to nearly 20,000 people each year. HAVEN s Residential Program is also a key part of the safety net for victims living in Detroit. The city s only domestic violence shelter is at capacity nearly year-round. Additionally, because so many of our clients have limited or no independent means, we provide services free of charge. HAVEN is proud to open its doors to those who would otherwise have nowhere else to go. How You Can Help All people have the right to live without fear. AFP states that the best practices for special events are to ensure that the Cost to Raise A Dollar (CTRAD) is less than $0.40. HAVEN is proud to share that in 2015, the CTRAD for the 2nd Annual Gala was only $0.23, far under established best practices, ensuring that the majority of funds received from this event directly support programs.
