These updates are summarized in the fllwing ntes. 6 Licensing (Changed) As f SAP ME 6.0, licensing mechanism is n lnger required t implement SAP ME. The previus licensing mechanism was based n a cncurrent user/resurce usage denying r limiting access t SAP ME accrding t the number f licenses sld t a specific custmer. When the number f user license keys had been used up, cnnectin t SAP ME was disallwed t any ther users trying t access the system. The verall pricing and licensing strategy fr SAP ME has changed, there is n lnger a requirement t restrict access t the SAP ME prduct n a cncurrent user basis. The applicatin is nw mnitred fr usage by unique resurces r users in the Active status with the SAP NetWeaver Administratin (NWA) tls. The NWA tls prvided with the SAP NetWeaver installatin include new Web services used fr auditing n a specific set f criteria, unique users/resurces accessing the system. 7 System Navigatin (Enhanced) New The Site Selectin activity is new. Using this activity lgged-n users can chse ne f the assigned sites. The Site link is lcated n the menu bar at the tp right f the screen near the Lgut, Abut and Help links. Enhanced A visible indicatin (dash line arund the field) is prvided fr the user interface element that currently has fcus. Keybard shrtcuts are prvided t enable the system t be used withut a cursr cntrl device (such as a muse r tuch pad). Fr mre infrmatin, see System Accessibility in System Navigatin SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. User Interface As f SAP ME 6.0, the SAP ME applicatin user interface was harmnized. The harmnizatin fllwed the SAP Standards regarding the user interface. In additin, the SAP Trade Shw Plus User Interface was incrprated because this standard is used in the new Prductin Operatr Dashbard. The fllwing changes were made glbally: New SAP lg and SAP ME header were added. All activity names are nw displayed in the upper-left crner f the activity screen. The Print, Help, Shw Details, Actins, and Brwse icns were updated t the standard SAP icn. The Save, New, Errr icns displayed with success and errr messages were updated t the standard SAP icn. Interface f the Brwse windw was changed. Table header clr, behavir, and clumn headings are nw left-justified. Tab panel brder selectin clr nw utilizes the darker shade. Actin buttn lk, feel, and text were changed. When a field is selected the backgrund f the text bx is nw highlighted in yellw. On muse ver, a pushbuttn clr is nw changed and a tl tip is displayed. The clr scheme within all activities reflects ther SAP applicatins. There was added the wrd reprt t all reprt descriptins in the activity manager. 8 The Retrieve, Save, Clear, Delete pushbuttns were replaced with the crrespnding icns in the upper-left crner f activity screen. In activities that previusly cntained the File, Edit, Help icns, thse icns were replaced with the new Retrieve, Save, Clear, Delete icns and text and appear in the upper-left crner f the activity screen. The Help icn was mved t the far upper-right crner f the screen. In activities that previusly cntained the Insert New and Remve Selected pushbuttns, thse pushbuttns were replaced with the crrespnding links in the table with the new table clr and behavir. Changed ALT key cmbinatins are nt supprted as htkeys n buttns cnfigured in PODs in SAP ME 6.0 envirnment. In POD Maintenance, htkey cmbinatins with ALT are deleted. ALT key cmbinatins are nt migrated t SAP ME 6.0. Nw custmers can create new htkey cmbinatins using CTRL. The Nt Dne filter is new t SFC Brwse. 9 System Cnfiguratin (Enhanced) New As f SAP ME 6.0, yu create users and change user passwrds using SAP NetWeaver User Management Engine (UME). The UME system is nw a single surce lcatin fr creatin and management f user rles/passwrds and this is where users are authenticated when they lg n t SAP ME. Additinal assignment and cnfiguratin is managed in User Maintenance in SAP ME. SITE_ADMIN is nw a single glbal user having access t all sites by default. Transfer f master and system cnfiguratin data Yu can cpy existing master and system cnfiguratin data frm a site and use them fr anther site r fr a new installatin using the new Cnfiguratin Data Transfer Exprt (CL300) and Cnfiguratin Data Imprt (CL310) activities. Fr mre infrmatin, see Transfer f Master and System Cnfiguratin Data in System Cnfiguratin f the SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. The Allw Duplicate Operatins n Ruting system rule is new. If set t true, the system allws t use the same peratin f any versin n a ruting multiple times. If set t false, the system des nt allw t use the same peratin n a ruting multiple times. The Pst Installatin Verificatin Reprt allws yu t verify a system cnfiguratin. The system cmpares live settings with reference settings and displays differences. The DB Diagnstics Reprt (DBDIAGNOSTICS_REPORT) allws yu t verify that WIP database f SAP ME is cnfigured prperly and its initializatin and statistics gathering parameters crrespnd t values recmmended by SAP. User Preference Maintenance The Main tab is deleted as UME is the single surce lcatin fr many f the user management functins. Labr Rule Maintenance The Lgin ID ptin is remved frm the ID fr Clck-In/Out drpdwn list. UME uses nly a User ID attribute t identify a unique user t the system. Backgrund Prcess Executin The Aut Clse Message by the System backgrund prcess was added t change the status f messages t Clsed autmatically as defined in Message Type Maintenance. Deleted The Enable LDAP Authenticatin system rule was deleted. This system rule is n lnger needed as SAP NetWeaver and UME manage LDAP and Single Sign-n scenaris. 11 Effects n Existing Data In UME, user IDs are unique. Custmers need t prvide unique user IDs t create these users in UME. Alll users with unique values f user ID are migrated t UME. 12 Tw-Dimensinal (2D) Barcde Data Cllectin (New) Yu can enter cmpnent data by scanning 2D barcdes when assembling a cmpnent n the shp flr r receiving a material t flr stck. Yu set up this functin using the new Barcde Data Frmat Maintenance and Barcde Parser activities. With Barcde Data Frmat Maintenance, yu can define data frmats and map data elements f parsed 2D barcdes t SAP ME data fields. The Barcde Parser hk pint activity parses 2D barcdes when shp flr peratrs scan barcdes n dcuments, tags, packaging, r cmpnents t ppulate data abut a material. 13 Printing (Enhanced) New The ADS Dcument Print hk pint activity (SY521) is new. With this hk pint activity, yu can print dcuments, created frm master data frm SAP Manufacturing Executin, thrugh the SAP NetWeaver Adbe Dcument Server (ADS). The PRINTER_NAME activity rule defines the printer destinatin the dcuments will be printed t. Tw new system rules were added in System Rule Maintenance under the System Setup categry t supprt new functinality: ADS - Dcument Printing Template Directry ADS - Strage f PDF Dcument Fr mre infrmatin, see Printing f Prductin-Related Dcuments in System Cnfiguratin f SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. 14 Master Data Cnfiguratin (Enhanced) BOM Maintenance The user can view all BOM types: Master, Shp Order, and SFC. The fllwing new cmpnent types are new t supprt imprt f BOMs frm SAP ERP t SAP ME: Phantm: Used in a BOM structure t represent a gruping f cmpnents r a pint in the assembly prcess. It is nt a physical material s it shuld nt have an SFC number released fr it nr is it cnfirmed back t ERP. Actual BOM cmpnents are defined as its Phantm Members and are structured t be assembled by the Phantm cmpnent, fr which an assembly data type can be defined and cllected. C-Prduct: Represents pssible variatins f a planned material. If a manufacturing prcess can yield mre than ne pssible material due t, fr example, prcess, envirnment r raw material variatins, then the ptimum material is planned fr and all ther pssible utcme materials can be defined as its C-Prduct cmpnents. By-Prduct: An additinal planned material that is created during the manufacturing f anther material. If a manufacturing prcess f a material als yields ne r mre ther materials, than these ther materials can be defined as its By-Prduct cmpnents. Fr mre infrmatin, see BOM Maintenance in Master Data Cnfiguratin f SAP ME 6.0 Scheduling Standards Maintenance New surce types are nw supprted: The Material-Operatin standards apply t peratins r steps that belng t any ruting fr a material. The Material-Ruting standards apply t peratins r steps n the specified ruting fr a material. The Material standards apply t an SFC number fr a material. ERP standards are nw supprted. 15 Data Types (Enhanced) New The Data Field Definitin Maintenance activity is new. With this activity, yu can define data fields t cllect custm infrmatin during the manufacturing prcess. This activity cntains pre-laded data fields that were available in the previus SAP ME releases. In additin, with this activity, yu can define the key attributes f data fields t cllect custm infrmatin during the manufacturing prcess. This new activity has an additinal pre-save validatin activity and supprts the new List field type. The new List type allws yu t predefine a list f values fr a data field. Enhanced The Data Field Assignment Maintenance activity replaced the Data Type Maintenance activity. With this activity, yu can assign ne field t multiple data types in multiple categries and define whether it is required fr each data type t allw flexibility f the data field acrss data types. The SFC categry is new. This categry replaced the SFC Custm Data categry that was available in previus SAP ME releases. The SFC categry has a restrictin that nly ne SFC data type can exist in a site. The fields fr SFC numbers that are cllected in the enhanced SFC Data Entry activity (see WIP Management). The Cmment type is new fr the NC categry. Changed In Custm Data Maintenance, the SFC categry was remved frm the list f categries and mved t the Data Field Assignment Maintenance activity. SFC custmer-defined data fields that have been previusly defined in SFC Custm Data Maintenance can be retrieved and updated in Data Field Definitin Maintenance. SFC custmer-defined data fields that have been previusly defined in SFC Custm Data Maintenance can be retrieved fr the SFC categry f Default type in Data Field Assignment Maintenance. 16 Genealgy Management (Enhanced) New The Strage Lcatin Maintenance (STORAGE_LOC_MAINT) activity allws yu t define and edit strage lcatins and assign wrk centers t them. The strage lcatins defined in SAP ME shuld match exactly t the strage lcatin in ERP. Fr mre infrmatin, see Strage Lcatin Maintenance in Inventry Management f SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. The fllwing hk pint activities are new: Elapsed Time in Prcess Check (ELAPSED_TIME_CHECK) Check Resurce Setup (CHECK_RESOURCE_SETUP) With Elapsed Time in Prcess Check, yu can ensure that each SFC number has been Active at an peratin fr the required amunt f time. Check Resurce Setup is used t prevent the Start f an SFC number in the POD under cnditins cntrlled by the activity rule settings. Enhanced Assembly Pint The Assembly Pint functinality has been enhanced t supprt the Cmpnent List and Assemble Cmpnents plug-in as tw separate activities. This enhancement allws a custmer t decide what plug-ins need t be displayed at an assembly peratin. Cmpnent List Yu use this functin t view the list f all the cmpnents defined in the BOM which then are filtered t the current r selected peratins fr the selected SFC number in the POD. The Cmpnent List displays Phantm BOM cmpnents and the Phantm BOM cmpnent members t be assembled. Assembly Pint (Assemble Cmpnents) Yu use this functin t recrd assembly wrk n the shp flr and t enter assembly data values fr the material at an assembly pint peratin fr ne r mre SFC numbers. The Assemble Cmpnents plug-in has been enhanced t supprt the assemble f Phantm BOM cmpnent members alng with the cllectin f assembly data fields. It supprts the ability t cllect assembly data field values fr the Phantm BOM cmpnent althugh this cmpnent is nt truly assembled. (C) SAP AG SAP ME 6.0 Release Ntes 16

17 The Chse Aut Next assembly mde was added. If the ASSEMBLY_MODE activity rule is set t CHOOSE_AUTO_NEXT, the next nn-assembled cmpnent is autmatically selected in the Cmpnent List during the assembly peratin and autmatically displayed in the Chse field in the Assemble Cmpnents plug-in. The DISPLAY_BARCODE activity rule was added. If it is set t TRUE, the Barcde field appears n the Assemble Cmpnents screen. Fr mre infrmatin, see Genealgy Management in SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. Device Histry Reprt The Device Histry Reprt (DHR) was enhanced as fllws: The Device Histry Reprt can be displayed fr archived SFC numbers, if they are manually entered. As Build Summary can be triggered frm the Device Histry Reprt Custm data fr peratins, data cllectin grups and NC cdes was added t the Custm Data nde UOM and Measure Status data alng with indicatin that data cllectin parameter values have been edited was added t the Data Cllectin nde WI View Lg data is nw available in WI Data nde Tl Used data is nw available in the Activity Lg sectin SFC specific data is nw available in a new SFC Data nde. BOM Reprt Nw yu can view the fllwing infrmatin in the BOM Reprt results: Phantm cmpnent with its members The assembly sequence, cmpnent type and phantm cmpnent assembly sequence in the cmpnent sectin The results fr all BOM types: Master, Shp Order, and SFC. A Strage Lcatin was added as an Inventry ID Lcatin. (C) SAP AG SAP ME 6.0 Release Ntes 17

18 The 2D Barcde field is displayed when the activity rule DISPLAY_BARCODE is set t TRUE. Fr mre infrmatin, see Flr Stck Receipt in Inventry Management f SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. Maintain Inventry The activity was enhanced as fllws: The activity was renamed t Maintain Flr Stck. The Split Inventry ID feature was added. The user may split ff a partial quantity f a parent inventry ID int ne r mre child inventry IDs using the Split Inventry ID feature. The user identifies the quantity t be split frm the parent inventry ID plus the number f child inventry IDs t create. Once the child IDs are created, it can be displayed and edited in the Maintain Flr Stck activity. The Flr Stck Lg Detail Reprt fr the parent inventry ID lists its child inventry IDs with a link t pen its wn Flr Stck Lg Detail Reprt. A Strage Lcatin was added as an inventry ID Lcatin. The ability t mve flr stck frm ne strage lcatin t anther and send a cllabratin message t ERP was added. The new activity rule ALLOW_STORAGE_LOC_MOV was added t supprt this feature. Nte that this functinality replaces an assembly data field used during integratin and is nt an bject within ME. The time-sensitive material (TSM) reset functinality was added. The entry in the Max Flr Life field can be edited if the ALLOW_UPDATE_MAX_FLOOR_LIFE activity rule is set t YES. The reprt was enhanced t display the material lcatin. The fllwing search criteria were added: Strage Lcatin, Status, Wrk Center, Operatin, and Resurce. The reprt nw includes tw new detailed reprts: The Inventry ID Lg Reprt displays the transactins that have ccurred t an inventry ID. The Flr Stck Lg Detail Reprt displays mre infrmatin abut transactins that have ccurred t an inventry ID. Fr mre infrmatin, see Flr Stck Reprt in Reprting f SAP ME 6.0 applicatin help. 19 As-Built Cnfiguratin The Assembly Sequence, Cmpnent Type and the Phantm Cmpnent Assembly Sequence fields were added. Slt Cnfiguratin Maintenance The activity was enhanced as fllws: The field Minimum Slt Qty Threshld was added n the Details tab page fr each slt. A new message type can be defined when this minimum quantity has been reached fr a slt within a Slt Cnfiguratin. A new message type can be defined when the slt quantity is zer fr a slt within a Slt Cnfiguratin. New message types MIN_SLOT_QTY and ZERO_SLOT_QTY were added t supprt new functinality.
