3 INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT PROGRAM Our Business At the heart of what we do is a culture of innovation. Our objective is to provide a world class service to our clients and business partners with a focus on execution, efficiency, excellence with a robust risk framework overlaying everything that we do. This stems from a commitment for continuous improvement and a desire to remain at the forefront of the world's financial markets. Our teams work very closely with our business partners, developing strategies and delivering solutions that are integral to the day to day running of our business. Our business activities can range from: sales, trading and research applications, trade processing, risk management, portfolio management, payment services, voice recognition, quantitative and qualitative analysis, security analytics, management reporting and stakeholder relationship management. About the Program Successful applicants under the Industrial Placement Program participate in a 6 months program that provides them with a unique opportunity and exposure to life in Bank of America Merrill Lynch. They are given a true associate experience as the industrial placement mirrors full time positions and also include goal setting and formal performance review. In addition to learning opportunities, there are also formal and social opportunities to network and interact with senior colleagues. The Industrial Placement Program begins with an orientation and induction to the firm. Overview: Candidates will get to experience working within a fast paced, innovative environment. The Industrial Placement internship within Technology is a precursor to the Technology Analyst Full Time Program. You can expect to be exposed to a broad range of technologies covering many diverse environments and receive both on the job and workshop-based training. All Technology Interns are called upon to: Demonstrate understanding of the product set and business processes used within the organization Communicate and interact with teammates and internal clients on a regular basis Qualifications: Language Requirements Fluent in written and spoken English Education GPA/CAP score minimum preferred: 3.0/4.0 or 4.0/5.0 or above Preferred degree disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering Skills and abilities Strong quantitative and analytical skills Technical skills should include knowledge of several of the following technologies: Java/EJB s, C++,.NET and web services Financial industry knowledge Problem-solving skill Strong presentation and interpersonal skills Ability to produce high quality work in a demanding environment Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team Project management skill Ability to integrate technical solutions in a business environment Personal traits Passion for technology Strong interest in pursuing a technology career in the financial services industry High degree of professionalism and integrity High degree of initiative and motivation Quick learner and interest in taking on new responsibilities Strong attention to detail Ability to work well with others Client-focused Results-oriented 4

5 Based on the outcomes of the assessment process, placements may be in the GMRT, GWIMT or GCCIBT lines of business and within the following roles: 1. Developer: Provide technical excellence to design, develop and maintain state-of-the-art technology applications utilizing technologies such as Java/EJB s, C++,.NET and Web services. Responsible for internal and external client requirements gathering, translating client interactions into technical design specifications, business process reengineering, and partnering with business, product and technology teams across the organization to deliver world class technology solutions. 2. Quality Assurance: Combine financial, business, and technical knowledge to develop comprehensive test strategies for internally developed trading systems. Development of knowledge in all these areas is encouraged and supported. 3. Business Analyst: Translate business needs into technical requirements, documenting process flows and producing diagrams to ensure understanding amongst all project team members 4. Business Support Management: Provides day to day support to Technology Executives to ensure the smooth running of the business. Combine financial and business acumen to drive management and financial analysis and reporting, hiring and occupancy planning and team communication. Global Wealth Management Operations & Client Services (GWMO&CS) Global Wealth Management Operations & Client Services provides comprehensive operations and client service support for Global Wealth & Investment Management businesses. We are recruiting students into the Strategic Initiatives Team. The Strategic Initiatives Team is made up of a team of experienced and dynamic individuals responsible for working with diverse stakeholders within the GWM Pac Rim Services to deliver high profile projects. The team provides core project management support, new products enablement and operational risk management services to the operational and client services teams across the Asia Pacific Wealth Management Branches. The team also assists in overall group reporting to global and regional partners and key stakeholders across the US, EMEA & APR regions. Roles and Responsibilities Support the business management team in: Strategic business-aligned initiative review and analysis Global & regional Ops & Client Services programme & management reporting. Associate communications across departments / regions through web and e-delivery channels. BAC integration/ transition initiatives execution Support respective project managers in the SI team across initiative life cycle (requirements, testing, issues resolution and user sign-offs) Excellent team player with strong inter-personal skills. Prerequisites: Strong written and verbal business communications skills. Meticulous and analytical. Excellent time management. Ability to multi-task and cope well under time pressures. Self-motivated. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suites, especially in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel. Understanding MS Visio, MS Project or SharePoint would be an advantage. Understanding or experience in project management and process mapping would be an advantage. 5

6 Global Markets Operations & Middle Office (GMO&MO) Global Markets Operations & Middle Office (GMO&MO) clears and settles trades in securities and listed derivatives; manages funds transfers; provides custody services for proprietary and client assets; and maintains control over static product and client data. These primary functions support the company s Global Markets and Investment Banking divisions, and third party clients through a variety of financial and regulatory control activities. Roles and Responsibilities: Performs post-execution trade processing and internal controls from trade entry through settlement and custody, and ensures all trades are settled as quickly and efficiently as possible Ensures that the company delivers services and execution that meet market-leading standards Manages operational risk and accurate transaction settlement, to maximize profitability while minimizing risk Provides effective cash management, ensures the integrity of the balance sheet as well as the global integrity of client data, and full compliance monitoring of all transactions Works closely with colleagues in the Fixed Income, Commodities, Equity, Listed Derivatives or Prime Brokerage businesses, to process complex transactions and solve operational problems Responds to business issues and client needs, assists in risk management, conducts revenue analysis and participates in firm s re-engineering projects Engineering or business major such as finance, economics, operations, management or a related area. Prerequisites: Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to produce high quality work in a demanding environment. Ability to work independently, while functioning as part of a team. Project management skills and financial industry knowledge. 7 Global Technology & Operations Chief Operating Office The APAC COO Office supports the Business Executive for APAC Global Technology & Operations (GT&O) and the Global GT&O COO. The COO team provides all governance & operational support for the APAC GT&O function with a remit that spans across strategic business initiatives, operational risk, financial planning & control and employee development & engagement and other areas impacting the region. We are looking for interns to join the COO team to cover 3 key areas: 1) Merrill Lynch Global Services Executive Director Office (MLGS ED) - MLGS ED manages and governs Global Service Center Singapore, which provides technology and operation services for the bank. This MLGS Executive Director (ED) function ensures that MLGS teams deliver tangible competitive advantage as a core component of the bank s global location strategy. The MLGS ED team is responsible for the administration, reporting, location strategy, external relationships and culture of MLGS. The intern will be responsible for: Govern the ongoing ML Insourcing Requests (MIR), Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Service Level Memorandums (SLM) process. Plan & execute MLGS programs Create & update monthly reports, dashboards, metrics, internal sites and newsletters 2) Business Control Monitoring & Readiness As part of the larger GT&O COO organization, the BCMR team governs and manage operational risks (people, process, systems, and external event risks) and controls across the various GT&O units in Asia Pacific. This regional team interfaces between the global GT&O COO team and regional T&O units. The intern will be responsible for: Plan & execute risk programs e.g. execute 2012 Risk Awareness communication plan Review & analyze data and information, e.g. produce service level agreement heatmap by country Support in production of risk reports 3) Business Support Management The BSM team will support the governance activities and initiatives across APAC GT&O. Regional and Country GT&O Councils have been established to provide direction and oversight of the APAC GT&O strategies and programs. The BSM team will interface with a large group of stakeholders including BSM s in global and regional functions, LOB and support partners in the region and the management team in APAC GT&O. The intern will be responsible for: Plan & execute initiatives which will impact APAC GT&O Review & analyze data and information Support the production of dashboards and reports to facilitate decision making This intern opportunity would be ideal for students looking for non-technical experience in the management and governance of large, complex organizations, or looking to gain a working understanding of operational risk and business management. Prerequisites Proficiency in MS Excel (including data formulas & pivot tables), Powerpoint & Word. Good written & spoken English, with an emphasis on strong business writing skills.
