2 Our story Of visionaries, pioneers and trailblazers In 2002, we set out on our mission as visionaries and lateral thinkers. There were no vehicles, filling stations, or logistics. There was, however, a real challenge: is emissions-free mobility possible as part of a sustainable energy transition? Our answer: yes, with hydrogen and the fuel cell! Fortune favours the brave. Over time we became researchers, test pilots and trailblazers. Today our vision has become a reality: fuel-cell vehicles are on the road, the infrastructure is growing, and hydrogen production is up and running. We have shown that electromobility works! We ARE moving things with hydrogen.

3 The heartbeat Team and voice of the industry For things to get better, something has to change. In the case of the energy transition, a lot has to change. A quick reminder: the goal is an 80 95% reduction in CO 2 emissions by 2050 (compared to 1990). Big changes are best tackled as a team. Which is why the CEP works across sector boundaries. With technology, oil and energy companies, gas producers and the major car manufacturers, our team has a solid base. Here we re not only going places with cars and buses but across all sectors. We re always pleased to strengthen ourselves, with new modes of H 2 transport and bold, green ideas! As we see it, the transformation of transportation is not a question of tomorrow; it s a task for today! We therefore take a more active path: we tackle the challenge, ask the awkward questions and find solutions together. We are doers. We MAKE things move with hydrogen.

4 Secret to success Hydrogen, hero of the energy transition We are passionate about hydrogen. This isn t a case of blind love, but of pure calculation: hydrogen is the most common element in the universe and yet has the unique potential to play a key role in the energy transition. Hydrogen has what it takes to power our mobility: 1kg contains three times as much energy as 1kg of petrol. And best of all, using hydrogen produces no local CO 2 emissions, only water vapour. H 2 is recognised by the EU as an alternative fuel: sustainable, clean, climate-friendly. Refuel in 3 minutes for 500 km of zero-emissions driving together with the fuel cell (efficiency approx. 60% compared to the 20 30% of an internal combustion engine!) it forms a bona fide dream team. As a storage medium, hydrogen can increase system stability and enable the integration of renewable energies on a large scale. In a nutshell, even when the sun doesn t shine and the wind won t blow, we KEEP things moving with hydrogen.

In Phase IV of what originally started as a research and development project, we are now working on the market establishment of electromobility with hydrogen and fuel cells. Hydrogen will make a major contribution to a successful energy transition on the road, on rails and on the water we can see that it works, every day, on Germany s roads. Thomas Bystry, CEP Chairman
