1 JOB DESCRIPTION CHILDREN & YOUTH WORKER JOB DETAILS: Job Title: Salary: Hours: Children & Youth Worker 18-21k per annum Full Fixed term contract for two years (to be reviewed) Riviera Life Church is a vibrant, contemporary and growing church in fellowship with Assemblies of God GB in the coastal town of Torquay. Riviera Life Church exists to help people build God-centred strong and healthy lives and has a clear vision of reaching out and meeting needs within the community. An opportunity has arisen for the new post of Children & Youth (CY) Worker in response to the growth and development of Riviera Life Church. The post holder will be expected to assist in the life and direction of the church and have a firm grasp on the purpose, values and strategy of Riviera Life Church. The post holder will be expected to build upon the current children and youth ministries and continue to develop and sustain a culture and ministries that will embrace diverse families with children from infancy to young adulthood. The CY worker will be a healthy leader who will work with staff and volunteers to build healthy systems and create an environment that fosters authentic discipleship and facilitates the vision of the church. The post holder will report directly to the Senior Leader. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, pre-employment references and a probationary period of 3 months. 2 ROLE SUMMARY: To work closely with the RLC's Children's and Youth Teams to develop, implement and lead a Children's and Youth Ministry for children aged 0-18 yrs. KEY TASKS: 1. Recruit, train and support volunteer leaders/workers for this ministry. 2. Develop strategies to reach out to un-churched children and young people of Torquay and the surrounding areas. 3. Provide the vision and leadership for a comprehensive system of Christian discipleship for children and young people. 4. Be intentional about building relationships with and create links with parents/ carers of children and youth. 5. Coordinate intergenerational activities with children and parents/carers. 6. Network with other children and youth workers in the community. 7. Teach/lead effectively with small and large groups and facilitate group discussions. 8. Ensure Safeguarding is maintained within children and young people ministries. Maintain accurate recordkeeping as appropriate. 9. Provide clear and regular communication with church staff, parents, youth and congregation as required. 10. Regular attendance in weekly staff meetings, Children s Ministry and Youth Ministry Team meetings, and other meetings as needed. 11. Participate as part of RLC's ministry team. 12. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Leader. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist in the development of the vision of the Church, communicate it effectively, and lead the people in working towards its achievement. 2. Develop a good working relationship with the members of the Church Management and Primary Leadership Team to provide effective collective leadership and attend regular meetings with the Core Leadership Team and Primary Leadership Team. 3. Build effective, supportive relationships with members of the congregation. 4. Attend area, zone and national AoG events for the purpose of networking and personal development as appropriate to role. 2 P a g e

3 This job description is an outline and account of the main duties required to carry out the post. It will be reviewed periodically to reflect changes and developments in service requirements. The post holder will be responsible for finding suitable accommodation within a close proximity to the church community at their own expense. RISK MANAGEMENT/ HEALTH & SAFETY The post holder has a responsibility to themselves and others in relation to managing risk, health and safety and will be required to work within the policies and procedures as laid down by RLC. CONFIDENTIALITY The post holder is required to maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with RLC policy. The post holder may access information only on a need to know basis in the direct discharge of duties and divulge information only in the proper course of their duties.
