1 APPLICATION FORM: JOB TITLE: Project Manager Discover Judo, East Midlands LOCATION: East Midlands, England, UK STARTING DATE: May 2013 STARTING SALARY: 18, to per annum BONUS PAYMENT: Productivity related WORKING HOURS: Approx 40 hrs per week HOLIDAYS: 28 days RESPONSIBLE TO: Sportif Director CONTRACT LENGTH: Six month probationary period followed by one year rolling contracts JOB PURPOSE: To develop and manage Sportif Judo s Discover Judo Project in the East Midlands area of England. The main aim of Discover Judo project is to extend the network of judo clubs in the East Midlands and to support the development of existing clubs in the region. Key tasks for which post holder will be responsible: 1) In the beginning of this project the Project Manager will be expected to coach judo in a club environment at least three evenings. However as the project develops and more coaches join the staff the Project Managers coaching role will be reduced. The aim is that within a year the Project Managers role will be purely the management of the project and staff. 2) Liaise with and create positive working relationships with local educational bodies, schools and other outside agencies with a view to forming strong, effective partnerships. 3) Locate possible local venues in the East Midlands area with the potential to host a judo club. 4) Oversee, support and line manage Sportif Judo s coaching staff in the East Midlands. Including: - Maintain a safe working and club environment at all times. - Monitor and evaluate the content and quality of each session and the progression of each member, each class and each club - Prepare progressive and effective lesson plans - Insure that equipment is well maintained and is in a secure environment - Insure that class registers are updated daily and information is communicated to office staff - Insure that individual students records are up to date 5) Coordinate the promotion of Sportif Judo Clubs. 6) Coordinate the launch and opening of new clubs and monitor existing clubs as a part of an ongoing process 7) Manage budgets 8) Maintain a data base of club members. 9) Prepare monthly progress reports 10) Insure that all working practise is legal and correct in line with Sportif Judo good working practise in regard to staff, members and customer care guidelines. 11) Represent the company in a positive and responsible manner at all times
2 PERSON SPECIFICATION POST TITLE: Project Manager Discover Judo, East Midlands EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS Essentials Good standard of general education Hold a valid coaching qualification to at least BJA Club Coach or UKCC level 2 or equivalent standard of qualification for specific country Hold minimum grade of 1 st dan Hold valid first aid certificate Hold a valid driving license Desirable Diploma/Graduate qualification in sport or similarly related field EXPERIENCE Essential Minimum 1 years coaching experience in judo Computer literate Word, Xcel, Power point Ability to self motivate Desirable Experience of working with schools partnerships, schools and local sports initiatives Experience of managing staff Experience of working with children and young adults in a leadership role Experience of working in a teaching environment Experience of working in sport SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Essentials Excellent communicator Must have good spoken and written English Sound knowledge of judo Sound technical skills in judo Good personal management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively Able to problem solve and work on own initiative Ensure that specific tasks are carried out to the highest standards Ability to hit specific deadlines Financial and budgetary skills Desirable Experience of Performance pathways Event management skills
