Development of community sustainable livelihoods of rural peoples at the Village Level within selected watersheds through the application of responsive funds for sustainable community-based management of natural resources; 2. Development and implementation of integrated watershed management plans in accordance with GOI Regulation 37/2012 regarding watershed management planning in partnership with Provincial and District BAPPEDA, BPDAS, Forum DAS and selected Line Agencies. The Project worked in 3 watershed areas (Bone and Bolango in Gorontalo and Konaweha in Southeast Sulawesi - all defined as in need of rehabilitation ), emphasizing reforestation, agro-forestry, and best management practices for agriculture in accordance with local physical, hydrological and soil conditions, water management and source water protection. Environmental Specialist DURATION: 6 months over 2 periods Oct 2008 through January 2009 and Oct 2010 through Dec 2010 SERVICES PROVIDED: The Advisor participated in the work undertaken with regards to: The preparation of a Project Implementation Plan (PIP) associated with the BASICS Project by providing an assessment of the current state of regional governance and environmental management in North and Southeast Sulawesi; and Preparation of Environmental Assessment Guidelines conforming to both Indonesian and Canadian Environmental Assessment Guidelines. The EA Guidelines are to be used by BASICS to screen activities funded by BASICS Responsive Fund Mechanism for potential serious negative environmental impacts and prescribe mitigative measures. The project focused on working with local stakeholders to identify resource and environmental priorities as a part of an Integrated Coastal Zone Management plan meant to address sustainable economic development. CANORA Asia Inc. (though EVS Environment Consultants) PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project was meant to increase the capacity of the National Environmental Impact Management Agency (BAPEDAL) and the State Ministry of Environment Regional Offices covering Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua. Field Team Leader (for the Project Extension Phase); and Community Environmental Management Advisor DURATION: 41 months from Nov 1999 through March 2003 SERVICES PROVIDED: The Advisor filled three main roles: as the Community Environmental Management Advisor responsible for working with communities to identify environmental priorities and provide capacity development services to empower communities and local governments to plan and implement activities to address the environmental / resource management priorities; and as the Project Technical Coordinator and Administrator, coordinating field implementation of technical activities and preparation of annual technical and financial reports. Public Participation Specialist 6 months The Specialist was responsible for: assessing community participation in fisheries resources management as implemented by the Indonesian Department of Fisheries and coordinated by the Regional Development Planning Board and make recommendations for improving the public participation process for application during the MAREMAP loan project. ASEAN-Canada Cooperative Programme on Marine Science Phase II (CPMS-II) EVS Environment Consultants Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam This was a funded ASEAN Regional Project meant to develop capacity and environmental standards for the marine environment. The Project focused on 3 elements of marine environmental management: establishing criteria and standards for specific marine pollutants and toxins; pollution control processes and procedures; and red tide management and information network. Project Technical Coordinator; and Red Tide Programme Manager 36 months As Technical Coordinator, the Advisor was responsible for: the work planning, technical coordination, progress reporting and liaison with all counterpart agencies and stakeholders. The Advisor also fulfilled the role of Red Tide Task Manager, which mainly involved the coordination of: Canadian funded ASEAN research into the occurrence of red tides and the effects of red tide on human health; the issuance of red tide alerts within the ASEAN region; and raising awareness among the public regarding the human health effects of red tide. 5 Southeast PROJECT DESCRIPTION: SRDP was meant to develop the capacity of the Regional Development Planning Board (BAPPEDA) in sustainable regional development planning at the Provincial and District Levels through the implementation of two main components: Development of capacity within Provincial and District Governmental Agencies for the attainment of sustainable development goals and improved provision of development services; and Implementation of sustainable development Activities within Integrated Regional Development Site which focused on poverty alleviation, health, education, water supply and sanitation and regional economic development. Rural Development Advisor DURATION: 66 months from Dec 1988 through June 1993 SERVICES PROVIDED: The Advisor provided services at both levels of project programs working at the District Level of the Regional Development Planning Board (BAPPEDA). The service provision included: Develop capacity of BAPPEDA in: assessing regional potential within the framework of Indonesia s Bottom-Up Planning process; writing annual Provincial and District Development Plans; selection of projects emphasizing rural development goals based on budgetary constraints, project feasibility, sustainability and cost-effectiveness criteria, supervision and monitoring of implementation performance and evaluation of development impacts; and institutional planning and human resource development; and The Advisor was responsible for managing the GULAMAS IAD Project first, then the Kolono IAD Project. Responsibilities included coordination of regional assessment, coordination of community participation in development planning, coordination of project implementation, performance monitoring and impact evaluation of activities implemented by Governmental Line Agencies.
