1 Manager Accountability Strategy & Accountability Directorate, Regulatory Services, PRC As one of Government s larger regulators, Regulatory Services aims to minimise harm and maximise benefits through effective oversight of anti-money laundering and countering financing terrorism, gambling, antispam and censorship regulatory systems. We are a responsive risk-based regulator that uses innovation and collaboration to maximise our impact to achieve desired outcomes for New Zealand communities. Support Regulatory Services Group to achieve its objectives through effective management and delivery of business planning, organisational performance management and reporting processes, business improvement, technical capability development initiatives and official correspondence services. 3 The Department of Internal Affairs What you will do to contribute Strategic Leadership Support the Director Strategy and Accountability in setting the strategic direction for Strategy and Accountability and the wider Group. Work with Managers in the Strategy and Accountability directorate and staff to maximise Strategy and Accountability s contribution to Regulatory Services Provide intellectual leadership, direction and support for Strategy and Accountability and the Accountability team. Champion and drive commitment to the Regulatory Services compliance approach, regime objectives and the Department s focus areas and priorities. Ensure the Accountability team is led in a manner which: Builds a clear and common understanding of how the team contributes to the success of Regulatory Services; Encourages the application of best practice methods and tools; Builds a high performing team that embraces innovation and improvement; Positively influences work culture. Relationship management Build and maintain working relationships with senior managers and managers across Regulatory Services Build and maintain working relationships with PRC BDS and other corporate service teams in the Department Build and maintain a working relationships with the Practice Leaders, Principal Advisors, Directors, Deputy Directors and Managers across Regulatory Services As a result we will see A strong contribution to the activities of Strategy and Accountability, including informing group strategy. The Accountability team is a well-respected team that contributes ideas and sound methods to Regulatory Services Accountability staff clearly articulate their contribution to the success of Regulatory Services and the Department Open lines of communication Accountability influencing work across Regulatory Services and key corporate services teams Capability development initiatives are coordinated

4 The Department of Internal Affairs What you will do to contribute People Leadership and Management Provide intellectual leadership, direction, coaching and mentoring to build capability and engagement that reflects the Department s principles and a commitment to Regulatory Services strategic goals. Lead and manage the Accountability team to sustain a high level of capability and a highly performing team that develops a culture which reflects the goals of Strategy and Accountability. Successful management of people including: responsibility for developing and maintaining positive employee relations; the successful operation of the Department s performance management system to drive desired levels of practice, behaviour and performance; Meeting the Department s effectiveness for Māori and equal employment opportunities, goals and objectives Undertake regular DIA culture and engagement activities with the team. Motivate, enable and engage the team to achieve results. Comply with DIA corporate policies and processes, including: planning and reporting managing resources effectively: All decisions that commit resources are well considered, represent value for money and align with DIA/branch/group objectives and plans. Comply with all finance (including procurement and purchasing) processes, policies and legislation risk management: identifying issues, developing risk mitigation strategies, informing the Director Strategy and Accountability as required. As a result we will see All DIA corporate policies and processes are complied with. Leading of the development and delivery of the Unit s work programme. Behaviour as a people leader meets the success criteria described in DIA s Capability Framework. Talent is identified and developed. The performance and development of staff is appropriately planned, encouraged and managed in accordance with DIA processes and business needs. Results are achieved through clear expectations, including individual Performance Plans, support and regular performance feedback. Engagement action plans are developed and completed, including regular culture and engagement activities. The team environment fosters the sharing of ideas and knowledge. Accountability is known for delivering successful outcomes, promoting improvement and innovation, and positively influences work culture.

Ensure that business risk is identified, well understood and managed appropriately with funded and monitored mitigation plans. Lead by example to drive a proactive security and privacy culture, supporting the Accountability team and reinforcing positive behaviours through role modelling. Health and safety (for self) Work safely and take responsibility for keeping self and colleagues free from harm Report all incidents and hazards promptly Know what to do in the event of an emergency Cooperate in implementing return to work plans Health and safety (for team) Inform, train and equip staff to carry out their work safely Ensure prompt and accurate reporting and investigation of all workplace incidents and injuries Assess all hazards promptly and ensure they are managed As a result we will see A safe and healthy workplace for all people using our sites as a place of work. All requirements of DIA s Health and Safety policy and procedures are met. Business risks are identified and managed with escalation where necessary. Accountability information is managed in accordance with the Privacy Act.
