India s cost advantage to manufacture a variety of goods and services is recognized across the world. By innovating new ideas, making use of recent technologies, optimizing the usage of packaging materials and better methods of logistics, container movements and using many financial instruments offered by banking systems, India can emerge as the shopping mall for the world, attracting hundreds of customers to the country. The Chamber s annual Workshop on Packaging and Forwarding has always received wide participation and many of the participants have returned to the Workshop in the subsequent years. This year, for the first time, we have widened the scope of the Workshop by including finance as an additional component in making our marketing and exports successful. The collaboration of Export-Import Bank of India with its deep focus to assist India s export community to reach out to the world will add further strength to the Workshop. The Workshop will address issues like How to design a cost effective packaging for products from different industries? Engineering, processed food, pharmaceuticals, textiles, chemicals, FMCG and a variety of other products. How to optimize packaging and freight expenses to avoid wastage by effective cost containment strategies? What are the latest technologies in packaging, labeling and product identification? What are the packaging, labeling and quarantine regulations in different countries? Effective use of multi model transportation / air freight / air cargo consolidation and bulk packages. What are the cost effective financial solutions offered by Exim Bank and commercial banks to make India s exports meet world competition? What are the financial packages available to assist SMEs for export efforts? Outsourcing opportunities in Logistics industry.
