Mind employs over 200 staff and we have a team of volunteers. Most staff are based in Stratford, London, there is an office in Cardiff and Manchester and there are a number of dispersed staff working across England and Wales. As Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer, you will be responsible for account managing key relationships with corporate partners, primarily the partnership with Societe Generale, and helping generate new business in order to build a portfolio of companies who support Mind. Under supervision of the Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will help increase income from corporate fundraising in line with or exceeding budgets. The corporate unit consists of a Corporate Partnerships Manager, three Senior Corporate Partnerships Officers (two with an account management focus, one with a new business focus) and two Corporate Partnerships Officers. Initially this post will be dedicated to managing Mind s two year partnership with Societe Generale (launching in April 2015). The wider scope of the role in future will include managing a number of our larger accounts (worth 50kpa+) and some new business responsibilities, depending on opportunities that arise. Scope of the job Mind s Fundraising department consists of four fundraising teams Partnerships Fundraising, Public Fundraising, Training and Special Events and Fundraising Operations; overseen by our Fundraising Director. The Partnerships Fundraising team is responsible for generating income from major donors, charitable trusts and foundations, the statutory and corporate sectors. Together the team raises c 2 million per annum new income for Mind s work and c 7 million of pledged income per annum. The Partnerships fundraising team consists of a Head of Partnerships, a Major Giving Manager, a Major Giving Officer, a Trusts & Statutory Manager, 2x Senior Trusts and Statutory Officers, a Partnerships Fundraising Officer, a Corporate Partnerships Manager, 3x Senior Corporate Partnerships Officers (one with a focus on account management and one with a focus on new business) and two Corporate Partnerships Officers. This role is primarily based at Mind s offices, however you will be required to work from the Societe Generale offices in EC4 as required. This is currently two days each week, but may change during the course of the partnership. Mind aims to ensure that the needs and interests of people with mental health problems, people with disabilities, women, men, black and minority ethnic communities, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and people of all ages are reflected in all its activities. You will be expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities 1. Implement Mind s strategy for maximising income from companies as directed by the Corporate Partnerships Manager. 2. Lead and account manage the Societe Generale partnership (delivering at least 300k per year). This includes implementing an agreed fundraising and volunteering plan; developing a road map and communications plan to maximize support over the course of the partnership; planning and leading meetings with the corporate charity lead; speaking or sourcing speakers for key meetings and events; seeking additional income or generating opportunities within the relationship. 3. Report back on how Societe Generale s support has made a difference, demonstrating a clear understanding of the breadth and depth of Mind s work. The same applies for any other accounts managed. 4. Identify and work with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to manage risk in new partnerships and to ensure that Mind s corporate policy is adhered to. 5. Develop and adhere to effective systems to ensure effective contact and account management of corporate supporters. This includes using the Care database to update and extract data and working closely with the Corporate Partnerships Officer and Supporter Care teams. 6. Monitor, analyse and review information on corporate support and developments in the voluntary sector, advising the Corporate Partnerships Manager and, where appropriate, the rest of the organisation of new opportunities. 7. Provide excellent account management to corporate supporters; providing highest levels of customer care and effective corporate relationship management with support from the Corporate Partnerships Officers. 8. Manage both income and expenditure budgets for Societe Generale and each account responsible for, ensuring income targets are met and budgets are monitored, flagging any variances to the Corporate Partnerships Manager in good time. 2015.03.03 Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer JD+PS (Societe Generale) Page 2 of 6
9. Work with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to review monthly and annual budgets relating to income from companies. 10. Liaise with other Mind departments, Mind Retail, Mind Cymru and local Minds to maximise potential of corporate partnerships to reap benefits for Mind s entire network, including through volunteering and pro bono support. 11. Work closely with the Community & Events team to ensure that challenge events and payroll giving opportunities are smoothly co-ordinated and incorporated into partnership portfolios and that companies are given the support they need if they wish to fundraise for Mind in this way. 12. Represent the Partnerships team in appropriate working groups, workshops and/or meetings/other events as directed. 13. Monitor and evaluate corporate partnership activity and provide regular updates/reports to the Corporate Partnerships Manager and Head of Partnerships. 14. With the other Senior Corporate Partnership Officers, recruit and line manage corporate fundraising volunteers and case studies to help support Charity of the Year partnerships. 15. As directed, to deputise (alongside the other Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer) and provide cover in the absence of the Corporate Partnerships Manager. 16. Build capability and capacity within the unit via effective coaching of junior members of team or volunteers. 17. With the Corporate Partnerships Manager, review and plan best allocation of resources available, maintaining efficient balance of time and other resources to ensure are accounts are managed cost effectively while a pipeline of new approaches is maintained. 18. To undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary, that are compatible with the nature and grade of this post. Expectations 1. Mind (National Association for Mental Health) Fundraising Department Person specification: Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer Essential criteria 1. Experience of account managing significant Charity of the Year partnership/s (worth 100k+) and meeting or beating financial targets. 2. Understanding of charity legislation in particular in relation to partnership agreements, corporate Gift Aid and VAT. 3. Experience of presenting, speaking at events or delivering corporate pitches. 4. Ability to address large meetings with main board Directors/ audiences at fundraising events as well as small groups and individual VIPs. 5. Experience of using a database to monitor and manage corporate relationships. 6. Experience of using a range of research techniques to keep abreast of funding opportunities and to conduct due diligence on companies. 7. Ability to think creatively and proactively to seek innovative solutions to client needs. 8. A proven track record of providing high level of customer care including building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners to secure repeat business. 9. Excellent written English and a high attention to detail for writing professional proposals, letters and reports with the ability to translate complex information into a digestible and compelling form. 10. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal sensitively and diplomatically with a variety of people, internally within and externally to Mind. 11. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 12. Experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. 13. Ability to monitor, assess, evaluate and report back to corporate partners on how their support has made a difference to Mind. 14. Ability to manage budgets including forecasting, monitoring, maintaining agreed cost/income ratios and regular reporting of outcome against KPIs. 15. Mind (National Association for Mental Health) Additional information Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer (Societe Generale Lead) Conditions of employment In the light of legislation [Section 8 Asylum and Immigration Act, January 1997], as a condition of being able to commence employment with Mind, the successful candidate will be required to provide documentation to prove that they are able to work in the UK. Starting salary 29,630 per annum plus 2,992 per annum geographical weighting, followed by five annual increments to 34,589 per annum. Increments will be subject to annual review in accordance with Mind s procedures. Hours of work/flexible working hours A standard 35 hours per week within 8.00am to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding one hour break for lunch. Mind operates a flexible working hours scheme whereby members of staff can vary the time they start and finish work within the parameters agreed by their line managers. However, the core period of 10.00am to 4.00pm (excluding lunch break) are the times during which you must be at work. Time off will be given for work outside the standard hours.
