Aquaculture Version 5 New elements included in this new version Improved language to assure harmonization of interpretation; INCLUSION of a compulsory Assessment on Social Practices; INCLUSION of detailed criteria related to animal welfare specific to aquaculture; Tool to demonstrate sustainability status of feed used: Responsible Operations criteria as a voluntary Add-on for the compulsory compliance of the Compound Feed used; Communication to consumers when required through a label at packaging for final consumer.

Aquaculture Requirements Pre-Farm Gate Growers Farmers Post-Farm Gate Food Packing and Processing Retail Stores Consumers ON-FARM GFSI recognized scheme (GFSI: Global Food Safety Initiative) Traceability Integrity FAO Technical Guidelines for Aquaculture Certification referenced at all times Certification system that covers the full production chain Food Safety Animal Welfare Traceability Environment Workers Welfare
4 All steps are compulsory to be verified and in compliance GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture GGN New criteria related to Animal Welfare 1. Control of size variations within stocks; 2. Monitoring of health indicators and welfare problems through visual observation; 3. Species specific: establishment of maximum periods for crowding, grading, time out of the water, transport and fasting; 4. Feedback related to animal welfare from the slaughter/processing to the farm; 6. Management plan for cohabitant species (not intended for human consumption) shall follow same criteria of animal welfare and bio-security; 7. All the elements of the risk assessment on Animal Welfare applies to transport of live fish, eggs and juveniles; 8. Use of antibiotics agents are ONLY applied following the diagnosis of an infectious disease. 5. Culling of fish (removal, killing and disposal) shall be done according to prescribed methods following the Veterinary Health Plan;
5 2 New criteria related to Infrastructure Risk analysis for the adequate design of the cages; Cages shall be marked appropriately with navigations aids. 1 New criteria related to Area Management If there is a Area Management Plan, the producer shall demonstrate active participation. 2 New criteria related to Community Activities do not present restriction to the use of potable water to the community; Costal communities continue having fishing access. SUBCONTRACTING AF 5.1: MAJOR MUST FOR Version 5 Risk Assessment on Social Practices Major Must for version 5 POST HARVEST MASS BALANCE AND TRACEABILITY Contents are based on the Chain of Custody version 5 Veterinary Health Plan Extended criteria for version 5: Preventive measures for disease spread; Withdrawal periods established only when medicated feed is fully flushed from the system; Risk analysis on medical residues, including the potential impact on wild animals surrounding the farm; Frequency and methods of mortalities inspection; Inform the veterinarian and the respective official of the authorities in case of suspect of new diseases or high mortality rate; Antibiotics of critical importance to the human beings, based on the World Health Organization (WHO) list, shall not be used as treatments of first option; Registered veterinarian or approved agent by the authorities are able to diagnose diseases and prescribe medications.

Environment: includes Protected Areas criteria and a compulsory Environmental (Biodiversity inclusive) Impact Assessment and Management Plan. Traceability: from broodstock, seedlings and feed used at the aquaculture farming activities. Batch wise identification of stock and feed used. Workers Welfare: compulsory assessment on social practices; living conditions, workers health & occupational safety. Animal Welfare: specific to farmed fish species, including cohabitant species, e.g. cleaner fish. GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice COMPULSORY ASSESSMENT FOR V5 GRASP Criteria : 1. Worker representation 2. Complaint procedure 3. Self-declaration of good social practices 4. Knowledge about national labour regulations 5. Contracts 6. Pay corresponds to contract specifications 7.
