4 The extent of work 1. Document the availability of recreation facilities and services: Identify and spatially reference selected data Identify and collate information on additional facilities listed Document all other data available which is currently not captured 2. A library of plans for facilities suitable for a range of locations 3. Guideline development (lighting, facility standards) 4. Peer review and challenge

7 Development of a POS layer Coverage: Perth Metro and Peel Region = 32 LGA s / 398 suburbs Data set includes: 7680 green spaces: 3813 parks; 1860 natural spaces; 771 residual green spaces; 820 school grounds Park Facilities Assessed for 43 facilities in all parks Park Access % of suburb / LGA population within given distances of different park types Visit:

8 Functions of POS Tool Visit: Search by an address to find information on nearby parks in surrounding area; Search for a park by park name to get information on the available facilities and amenities in a specific park; Search by suburb or LGA to source and export summary statistics on the number and types of POS and park facilities within the chosen administrative boundary and population access to different POS and park types Draw or upload your own area of interest (provision for end users with and without GIS skills) and analyse and export summary statistics on POS provision, park facilities and population access to different park types. Model/scenario test POS provision on population growth on the provision of and access to POS and park amenity.

10 Aim of the Data Collection 1. Identify and document the current availability of community facilities and public open space (POS) in metro Perth 2. Calculate the provision ratios in relation to facilities / POS per capita and facility / POS access by km (distance to) and travel time 3. Compare the current provision ratios to the theoretical level of provision developed with the PLA Guidelines document and the Dept. Sport and Recreation POS
