We draw on this experience for new utility tunnel design, distribution system flow modeling, and existing tunnel system assessment and repair planning. Over four phases, MSU replaced the oldest portions of their steam system. Originally built in the early 1900s, the steam tunnels around West Circle Drive had finally succumbed to the test of time. Construction efforts required surgical precision to avoid numerous mature trees and existing utilities as it sliced through one of the most historic and park-like portions of campus.
