2 FACILITY ENGINEERING It s what s inside that counts. Modern facilities require the best engineering solutions to function both effectively and efficiently. FTCH s experts design the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural systems needed to complement the bigger vision of a project. Whether building a new, state-of-the-art facility or renovating your facility, we provide the experience to plan, commission, and control your building s systems. Steam utilities, site, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering are the cornerstones of FTCH s services. Our team takes pride in our commitment to reliability in engineering, connection to our clients, stewardship of the environment, and creative solutions. We approach every project with this balance in mind because, essentially, it s what s inside that can make all the difference. 6 CASE STUDY CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN Often referred to as the Blue Bridge, the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad Pedestrian Bridge spans the Grand River and is a treasured part of downtown Grand Rapids. Serving as a popular tourist destination during the annual, international ArtPrize event and an ideal location for wedding ceremonies and photographs, the bridge s careful rehabilitation was essential when work began in Lighting upgrades and controls were a significant rehabilitation component as the structure is named for the choice of blue lighting. Knowing the importance of the project, FTCH electrical engineering experts completed a comprehensive evaluation of the existing bridge lighting and installed programmable lighting fixtures, featuring LED lights and the ability to remotely change colors.

8 CASE STUDY MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY STEAM Practical and effective tunnel design, repair, and upgrades are a cornerstone of our services. We understand the unique design aspects of thermal piping systems and implement a focused, in-house multidiscipline design approach. With miles and miles of experience, FTCH knows utility system types ranging from steam and condensate return design to chilled water design and hot water supply and return. We draw on this experience for new utility tunnel design, distribution system flow modeling, and existing tunnel system assessment and repair planning. Over four phases, MSU replaced the oldest portions of their steam system. Originally built in the early 1900s, the steam tunnels around West Circle Drive had finally succumbed to the test of time. Construction efforts required surgical precision to avoid numerous mature trees and existing utilities as it sliced through one of the most historic and park-like portions of campus. FTCH led the full-service effort including structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical design for this award-winning project. 77 MILLION PROJECT DOLLARS 2,370,000 SF OF BUILDINGS AFFECTED INFO 260,000 TRADE HOURS WORKED 3,800 FEET OF WALK TUNNEL 1,900 FEET OF CRAWL TUNNEL 28 VAULTS 4 YEARS 3 MILES OF STEAM + CONDENSATE 3 MILES OF WATER, STORM, + SANITARY 2 MILES OF DUCTBANK FOR DATA + POWER 1 PROJECT TEAM 0 MILESTONES MISSED

10 STEP INSIDE FTCH Sixty years after its founding, nearly 400 staff members in eight regional offices have made FTCH one of the premier professional consulting firms in the nation. Engineering and environmental sciences are the cornerstones of FTCH s services and integrated project approach. With the technical capabilities and understanding to take even the largest projects from initial concept to completion, we are a hands-on, design-oriented practice at heart. Our team of experts takes pride in our commitment to integrity in design, connection to our clients, and creativity at our core. Pair our collaborative process and individual approach with our experience in a wide array of project types, geographic locations, and construction techniques, and you have a team that is responsive, flexible, and dynamic. FTCH s ability to connect across our numerous in-house disciplines allows us to see the big picture and, because we approach each project from many different perspectives, gives us an unparalleled ability to innovate. Our talented team and collective knowledge transcend the conventional boundaries of design and construction. Collaboration with architects, engineers, environmental, and construction professionals encourages innovative methods and exceptional results. And now, as throughout our decades of practice, we still hold dear our philosophy to help our clients realize their vision while benefiting society.
