2 PROGRAMME Tuesday 8 April Registration and welcome coffee :00 Welcome address Plenary: Setting the stage making paperless trade work This session will discuss how business and governments could collaborate more effectively to coordinate paperless trade and e-government activities worldwide. It will look at modern e-business and e-government methods and give high-profile examples of how to optimize business and government coordination Coffee break Plenary: How electronic customs, tax and public procurement frameworks are working today (government perspectives) Government frameworks, which increase the efficiency of paperless trade, can enhance business opportunities as well as improve social and economic growth. In this session, government experts will describe strategies for improving administrative processes and control in areas such as e-customs, e-tax and e-public procurement and highlight key public policy objectives and concerns that drive legislation which impacts digital trade Networking lunch Plenary: Business experiences with paperless trade and evolving regulatory frameworks Business has much to gain from the simplification and harmonization of paperless trade processes. In this plenary session, panellists from leading companies and business organizations will describe their strategies for optimizing the use of ICT, give examples of cutting-edge supply chain and e-business strategies, and discuss types of regulation (non-)/conducive to modern business practices Plenary: How can we bring business and government together? This plenary will showcase examples of successful cooperation between government regulators and business while also reflecting on the negative consequences of not addressing the remaining challenges together.
