3 Government of Indonesia has made much progress in addressing climate change issues: Prior to COP13 at Bali, Ministry of Environment in December 2007 issued National Action Plan on Climate Change (RANPI) describes climate change policies and short medium long term climate change program. National Development and Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) further revised the RANPI, and produced document called National Development Planning: Indonesia responses to climate change, called as Yellow Book. Following that, in 2010 BAPPENAS developed a progressive policy framework for climate change, i.e. Indonesia Climate Change Sectoral Roadmap (ICCSR), which lays down the principles, approach and priorities to mainstream climate change adaptation and mitigation in development planning. as a bridge for: Providing input into the National 5 year Mid Term Development Plan (RPJMN) , until

4 PRIORITY #9 THE ENVIRONMENT & DISASTER MANAGEMENT: In order to anticipate climate change, Environmental conservation will be utilized to support economy growth & sustainable welfare which is complemented by management and mastering of disaster risk 4

6 VOLUNTARY BASED EMISSION REDUCTION TARGET 26% BY 2020 Indonesia s Pledge for Emission Reduction* Statement by President Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono We are devising an energy mix policy... that will reduce our emissions by 26 percent by With international support, we are confident we can reduce emissions by as much as 41 percent. We are also looking into the distinct possibility of committing a billion tons of CO2 reduction by 2050.We will change the status of our forests from that of a net emitter sector to a net [carbon] sink sector by 2030 *Stated at the G20 Summit on Sept 2009 and reiterated at UNFCCC COP 15/CMP 5 on Dec
