Urban Water Supply: Provdes 100 ltres per capta per day for urban areas wt populaton reater tan 20,000 nabtants to be served by full retculaton and consumer premses connecton. Santaton: For te purpose of avodn ambuty and avn clarty to all stakeolders wo wll be nvolved n te mplementaton of te polcy stratees stated n ts polcy document, te term Santaton broadly refers to te prncples and practces relatn to te collecton, removal or dsposal of uman excreta, refuse and waste water. Adequate Santaton: For purpose of ts Polcy and te fact tat te optons for acevn adequate santaton servces vary wdely, te term Adequate Santaton refers to te provson and mantenance of systems or facltes of dsposn of uman excreta, waste water and ouseold refuse, wc s acceptable and affordable to te communtes. Tese nclude tolet facltes and accessores, ppes and treatment works. Te facltes must meet constructon set standards, sould be yenc and easly accessble, wt no adverse elements on te envronment. 6

Te stratey for effectve mplementaton of te Natonal WAS Polcy s based on a clear defnton of ts Insttutonal Roles as well as Inter-nsttutonal Coordnaton and Collaboraton arranements. Its mandate stated n te Guma Valley Water Company Lmted (1961) Act wll be revewed and revsed to armonze tem wt te new Water Law and te Reulatory reme wc wll be establsed. Te company wll also be responsble for sewerae servces for Freetown Cty Provncal Water Company (PROWACO) PROWACO wll be responsble for provson of water supply servces n te Dstrct towns of Bo, Kenema, Kodu, Maken, Kabala and te Internatonal Arport at Lun as provded n te PROWACO Act. In addton, PROWACO wll be strentened and leally mandated to perform addtonal responsbltes ncludn provson of water supply and sewerae servces to all urban centres (except Freetown) and te provson of water supply servces n rural areas. 15
