WORLD CONGRESS ON INDUSTRIAL BIOTECHNOLOGY CONCORD BLUE REFORMER Deriving a Synthetic Gas Building Block from Waste Scott A. Noll, Ph.D. Vice President-Project Management Concord Blue USA, Inc Wilshire Blvd Suite 660 Los Angeles, CA (310) CONCORD BLUE
CONCORD BLUE BACKGROUND CB is the inventor, owner, engineer & licensor for the Concord Blue Reformer waste to energy technology The Concord Blue Reformer provides a bridge from globally available waste streams to biologically or catalytically synthesized products from syngas Waste CBR Syngas
SYNGAS PATHWAYS TO MARKET Direct Use Hydrogen Electricity Steam/Heat Syngas Catalytic Synthesis MeOH EtOH Fischer-Tropsch Biological Synthesis EtOH 2,3 BDO Oleochemicals
CONCORD BLUE The CBR is an advanced steam thermolysis technology using staged reforming. Oxygen-free, no N 2 dilution Three primary stages Ceramic bead heating Solid waste pyrolysis to producer gas High temperature producer gas reforming to syngas Ceramic bead circulation Regulated plug flow by gravity downward Mechanical lift upward
CONCORD BLUE TECHNOLOGY PROCESS: Ceramic heat carrier balls used to achieve a constant, thorough and equal heat transfer to the waste material. Flue gas from a fully oxidizing char/gas furnace is used to heat the carrier balls.
air water ceramic bead cycle (heat carrier) hot gases inlet air heater steam generator baghouse & emissions control CBR Ceramic Bead Bunker (heating) hot gases char or syngas oxidizer steam char for oxidation syngas for oxidation SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM pre-conditioned feedstock High Temperature Steam Reformer raw syngas steam Raw syngas scrubbing clean syngas producer gas Medium Temperature Pyrolyser char for oxidation Syngas-derived products: separator Power, hydrogen, fuels and chemicals ceramic beads char Standard Module Biochar processing and packaging BioChar Co-Production Module
