CASE STUDY AVONMOUTH BIO POWER LOW CARBON ENERGY FACILITY D E T A I L S Transport Statement- Modelling, assessment of trips on strategic road network. R E S U L T The planning application received planning permission on AVONMOUTH BIO POWER Zinc Road, Avonmouth Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Avonmouth Biopower Energy Ltd to prepare a Transport Statement in support of a planning application to amend the feedstock and supply store source to the Avonmouth Biopower Low Carbon Energy Facility. The facility is capable of recovering energy from 100,000 tonnes of waste per annum and generates up to 14MW of low carbon and renewable energy, enough to power 28,000 homes. This application will allow fuel to be sourced from within a 50 mile radius rather than just from the neighbouring plant.avonmouth Biopower Facility 21 December 2017.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S AVONMOUTH BIO POWER Your Project. Your Journey, Our Passion Modelling of nearby junctions established that the additional HGV traffic could be accommodated on the local network. The effect on the adjacent strategic road network, especially the A4 and M5 was also assessed and it was demonstrated that the additional trips would have a negligible impact on the strategic road network. A HGV routing plan was prepared to ensure the large vehicles would travel on suitable roads.
CASE STUDY GP PLANNING LTD / DRENL LTD D E T A I L S Transport Statement Industrial Waste Recycling Facility Trip Generation, Traffic Impact, Transport Statement, Site operation and swept path analysis. R E S U L T CORBY RECYCLING CENTRE Earlstrees Industrial Estate, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 2BA A Transport Statement was prepared in support of a planning application to double the amount of waste at an existing recycling facility. Origin compiled a detailed Transport Statement. As there was no readily available data to estimate the likely trip generation associated with the proposal, trip generation rates were established on the basis of first principles by using weighbridge data. HGV tracking was undertaken to show that HGV's can safely manoeuvre into and out of the site access junction. The drawings also demonstrated that goods vehicle demand can be accommodated on the site with no impact on the highway The planning application is currently being considered by the local authority.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S CORBY RECYCLING CENTRE Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion Modelling of nearby junctions established that the additional HGV traffic could be accommodated on the local network. The effect on the adjacent strategic road network, especially the A4 and M5 was also assessed and it was demonstrated that the additional trips would have a negligible impact on the strategic road network. A HGV routing plan was prepared to ensure the large vehicles would travel on suitable roads.
CASE STUDY SHF PROPERTY INVESTMENTS LLP D E T A I L S Residential Development Technical Note Accessibility, Assessment and Parking, Accumulation Exercise R E S U L T The Highway Authority accepted the reduced parking provision. DALLOW ROAD Dalroad Industrial Estate, Dallow Rd, Luton Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by SHF Property Investments LLP to evaluate the site accessibility and the car parking requirements for a residential development comprising of approximately 200 flats and 125 allocated car parking spaces. The Technical Note was prepared in order to demonstrate that the development site is situated in a sustainable location and, therefore, a reduced number of car parking in comparison to the current policy requirements would not be detrimental to the surrounding highway network. The proposed development site is highlighted by the red line.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S DALLOW ROAD Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion A comprehensive study was carried out to identify the pedestrian and cycling links to local amenities and facilities, including education, employment, health, leisure, public parks, post offices, pharmacy, retail facilities and supermarkets. The analysis helped to establish that the majority of destinations were within the preferred maximum range according to the IHT guidelines set out in 'Providing for Journeys on Foot'. As an illustration, Table 1 below provides a summary of the assessed bus services. A parking accumulation exercise was undertaken and compared against car and cycle parking standards as set out in the Luton Local Plan. The study demonstrated that the proposed provision of 125 allocated spaces was in line with the 2011 Census car ownership levels for households on Dallow Road. The Technical Note therefore demonstrated that is was acceptable for this development to provide a reduced level of parking provision and that this would not result in any additional levels of onstreet parking in the vicinity of the proposed development.
CASE STUDY BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL D E T A I L S School Expansion Transport Statement Traffic Survey, Trip Generation and Impact R E S U L T Planning permission for the school expansion was granted EAST CLAYDON SCHOOL East Claydon C of E School, East Claydon, Buckinghamshire Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Buckinghamshire County Council to prepare a Transport Statement in support of a planning application for the expansion of East Claydon C of E School, St Mary's Road, East Claydon, Buckinghamshire. The school currently operates as a Pre School and has an Infant School for 2-7 years old, with a combined capacity of 45 pupils. The school proposes to expand with two new classrooms, in order to accommodate an additional 60 pupils by 2020 and become a primary school, introducing Years 3-6 progressively. on 08th August 2017.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S EAST CLAYDON SCHOOL Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion The school had reported that, because it currently provides education up to Key Stage 1 only, it is not often the first choice school for parents, even for those living in the village. The proposed school expansion will make the school more attractive and it will reduce the need for parents to transport their children to a different school for their next Key Stage, decreasing some of the existing vehicular trips on the wider network in this area. Origin conducted traffic surveys and analyses the current existing traffic conditions, likely trip generation and transport impact of the proposed expansion in the Transport Statement and concluded that the additional trips are not significant and can be accommodated on the local road networkmodelling of nearby junctions established that the additional HGV traffic could be accommodated on the local network. The effect on the adjacent strategic road network, especially the A4 and M5 was also assessed and it was demonstrated that the additional trips would have a negligible impact on the strategic road network.
CASE STUDY LOW CARBON INVESTMENT COMPANY LTD D E T A I L S Transport Statement Tracking, Detailed Sight Visibility Assessment MINETY BATTERY FACILITY Minety, Wiltshire, SN16 9DX Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Low Carbon Storage Investment Company Ltd to prepare a Transport Statement in support of a planning application to introduce a 50 MW Battery Storage Facility to a site located at Minety, Wiltshire. The Transport Statement demonstrated with swept path analysis drawings that the existing access could adequately accommodate HGV manoeuvres with no overrunning on the highway verge near the access. R E S U L T The Battery Storage Facility received permission on 21st September 2017
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S MINETY BATTERY FACILITY Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion A visibility drawing verified that visibility splays can comply with Manual for Streets guidance by trimming or clearing vegetation within the highway verges and within land under the control of the applicant.
CASE STUDY COMER HOMES D E T A I L S Phase 3 Transport Assessment, Sustainability, Site Layout and Junction Modelling R E S U L T ROYAL CONNAUGHT PARK The Avenue, Bushey, London, WD23 2LW Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Comer Homes to prepare a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan for Royal Connaught Park Phase 3. Royal Connaught Park comprises of a complex of Grade II listed buildings set in 100 acres of private parkland. The site was in use as the Royal Masonic School for Boys until In 2001, the site obtained planning consent for 307 dwellings which included refurbishment and works to the listed buildings as well as new dwellings. Phase 3 of Royal Connaught Park involves the development of 100 new units in four blocks on the northern section of the site. Successfully received no Highways objection.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S ROYAL CONNAUGHT PARK Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion The Transport Assessment highlighted the sustainability of the site and proposed additional sustainable travel solutions including an off-road pedestrian /cycle route. This route will provide safe cycle links from the development site to primary and secondary schools as well as to nearby National Cycle Route 6. The Transport Assessment also included junction modelling and demonstrated that the trips to and from the proposed development will have a minimal effect on the local road network. The proposed development received no objections from the local highway authority. A visibility drawing verified that visibility splays can comply with Manual for Streets guidance by trimming or clearing vegetation within the highway verges and within land under the control of the applicant.
CASE STUDY RUSKIN COLLEGE D E T A I L S RUSKIN COLLEGE Transport Assessment Dunston Road Campus, Headington, Oxford. Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Ruskin College, Oxford with obtaining planning permission for 95 units of student accommodation on their Dunston Road Campus in Headington, Oxford. R E S U L T Planning Permission was granted on 04th April 2018 The proposal will consolidate activities to the Dunstan Road site, providing residential accommodation on the same site as the academic buildings. This reduces the need for students to travel between campuses and has the potential to reduce traffic demand. The Dunstan Road site is situated in a sustainable location, within walking distance of the District Retail area as well as high frequency Public Transport. It is therefore an excellent location for this car free development.
CASE STUDY OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL D E T A I L S Network Modelling Linisg modelling of constrained network SUTTON Culham Bridges COURTENAY Origin Transport Consultants Ltd was commissioned by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) to undertake modelling work on three junctions in Sutton Courtenay adjacent to the Culham Bridges, and determine the impact of a number of proposed development schemes on the operation of the local highway network. R E S U L T Successfully received no Highways objection. The network is complex comprising two junctions either side of the River Thames as well as a section of signal controlled single way working on the bridge between them. The purpose of the analysis was to consider the cumulative traffic impact of four separate developments in the area that would total some 488 dwellings and significant commercial development with the bridge being the only way to cross the river thames locally.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S SUTTON COURTENAY Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion A linisg model was developed to assess all three junctions individually and together as part of a linked network. Junction network performance was validated against recorded queue length data at each of the junctions and journey times across the whole network. Three Technical Notes considering various scenarios where produced which allowed the County Council to conclude how it would determine highways comments for each application.
CASE STUDY LOW CARBON STORAGE INVESTMENT COMPANY LTD D E T A I L S Transport Statement Detailed sight visibility assessment, Swept Path Analyses R E S U L T Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council granted planning permission to the battery storage facility on 22nd WEST MELTON BATTERY FACILITY West Melton, Rotherham, S63 6AG Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Low Carbon Storage Investment Company Ltd to prepare a Transport Statement for a Battery Storage Facility in Rotherham. The facility would include a number of batteries that will be available for use by the National Grid to help manage peaks in demand, allowing excess energy generated from a variety of conventional and renewable sources to be stored in batteries at low demand, and fed back into the electricity grid during periods of peak demand. In consultation with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Origin designated the safest location for access and demonstrated that visibility splays in line with DMRB requirements could be achieved. September 2017.
T R U S T O U R E X P E R I E N C E T O L E A D T O Y O U R S U C C E S S WEST MELTON BATTERY FACILITY Your Project. Your Journey. Our Passion Swept path analysis drawings were prepared to demonstrate that an 18.97m articulated goods vehicle could enter and egress the site via the improved existing access without overrunning highway verges.
