Business opportunities: The Environmental Portfolio of Siemens Environmental portfolio revenue (in billions) 1 Renewable energies Environmental technology % % 2011 (target) Share of total revenue We expect our environmental portfolio to have generated 25'' revenue in FY2011 and have saved our customers 300 million tons of CO 2 3 Energy efficiency Page 6
CO 2 abatement at customers more than 50 times higher than our own GHG footprint Projected emissions reduction at Siemens customers in 2011: 300 Mt Siemens GHG emissions from production Methodology and data independently verified by PWC CO 2 abatement at our customers Munich Rome ~8 Mt ~15 Mt 210 Mt 300 Mt Abatement from newly installed products and solutions Los Angeles ~18 Mt Hong Kong ~40 Mt Singapore ~50 Mt 158 Mt London ~50 Mt Abatement from previous installations New York City ~60 Mt Tokyo ~60 Mt 4 Mt Total emissions equivalent Σ ~300 Mt Further information Page 7
The environmental portfolio comprises products and solutions from all Sectors Fossil power generation Renewable energy generation Power transmission Power distribution Environmental technologies Healthcare Mobility Solutions for industry Lighting (OSRAM) Building technology Page 8
Our products help our customers to improve their efficiency and performance Our guiding principle: Instead of finding customers for our products, we develop products for our customers. Our guarantee for a long and trusting relationship is comprehensive and customer-oriented service Example: District heating station in Chemnitz Example: Austrian Railway Siemens solution: 35% energy savings through exact flow rate control Reduced lifecycle costs through operation without pressure surges Siemens solution: Up to 25-35% less energy consumption compared to other models Environmentally friendly materials (e.g. lacquer and interior design) Page 9
Superior customer benefits through Productivity Sinumerik SIMETAL Ultimate EAF 30% productivity increase through uniform CAD / CAM / CNC process chain -30% 50% higher productivity compared to conventional electric arc furnace -50% Gantry Milling Machine, EiMa Maschinenbau Electric Arc Furnace, Gebze Turkey Page 10
Superior customer benefits through Flexibility Profinet and Profisafe Dynamic traffic control Up to 30% faster time-to-market for A8 through flexible automated robot cells -30% 35% reduction of driving time by optimized traffic flow -35% Page 11 Audi AG City of Muenster, Germany
Superior customer benefits through Efficiency Energy Performance Contracting Joule JFL2 LED systems Saving of energy costs: 57% less heating and 76% less water usage 65% higher energy efficiency compared to conventional main headlights -76% water -57% heating -65% Page 12 Theresienbad Vienna, Austria Volkswagen's one liter car
Example Environmental technologies: Water technology According to the UN, water consumption will increase 40 percent by 2025 while at the same time climate change will increase water scarcity in many regions. Environmentally friendly water technologies are needed today more than ever. Key features Siemens offers a complete spectrum of technologies for drinking water, industrial water, wastewater and water transport Among the most effective technologies are membrane and Cannibal systems Environmental value Membrane systems increase energy efficiency by up to 40%, use fewer chemicals, reduce nitrates in wastewater by up to 98% Cannibal systems reduce sludge by up to 95% Customer value Economic installation and maintenance of membrane systems Cannibal process cuts the cost of handling and disposing of solids Compliant with environmental regulations Page 13
Contactors with "universal coil" The new technology of electronic "universal coils" reduces the energy consumption to energize the coil of contactors by more than 85% for switching and for holding the contact Key features Space saving design Controlled by AC or DC Auxiliary switches integrated Additional function modules for communication and safety available Environmental value Reduced energy losses during switching and holding Less heat loss or cooling efforts in switching cabinet Customer value Less energy costs Less effort for cabinet cooling Space saving installation possible Page 14
A visionary concept to create green energy supply in Africa and Europe Desertec Industrial Initiative (DII): Renewable energy supply "from the desert" Within 6 hours, the world's deserts receive more energy from the sun than mankind consumes within one year. Excellent potential for wind and solar power Provide up to 100 GW of renewable capacity by 2050 Power used in North Africa as well as Europe Low-loss electricity transport via HVDC from North Africa to Europe Page 15
Example of renewable energy: Solar heat Siemens offers the widest portfolio for the fast-growing solar heat market. Siemens can supply around 70 percent of the components for a solar heat power plant from a single source. Annual market growth in the double digit range is expected through key features Proven technology Continuous power generation for over 20 years in the U.S. Various reference installations; many new installations under construction Benefits for the environm ent CO 2 -free power generation Also suitable for countries with lots of sunshine but low to medium income standards Customer benefits No fuel costs Attractive feed-in tariffs in a rising number of countries Helps meet prescribed renewable energy quotas Page 16
Example Fossil power generation: Combined cycle power plants Combined-cycle power plants belong to the most energy efficient fossil-fired power generators. The new gas turbine from Siemens in Bavarian town Irsching is expected to set a new efficiency record: Over 60 percent. Key features High efficiency due to combination of gas and steam turbines Further efficiency enhancements possible thanks to higher combustion temperatures and innovative turbines Environmental value Only 345 g CO 2 -emissions per kilowatt hour, compared to 578 in average power generation worldwide Significant emissions reduction anticipated (gas turbine Irsching) Customer value Low fuel consumption 1) Low operating costs 1) High flexibility and availability 1) Compared to conventional fossil-fired power plants Page 17
Example Power transmission: High-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) The transmission of electricity over great distances with HVDC reduces the CO 2 emissions due to smaller energy losses. HVDC also provides an optimal grid access to renewable energy sources. Key features High transmission capacity Power transmission over long distances Low energy losses Environmental value Reduction of CO 2 emissions through low energy losses CO 2 abatement of HVDC line Ballia- Bhiwadi in India: 250,000 t / year Customer value Economic transmission technology Established and reliable Enhanced grid integration of renewable energy sources through HVDC Page 18
Example Energy Distribution: SIPLINK solution SIPLINK stands for Siemens Multifunctional Power Link and enables linking a ship's on-board power system to the existing onshore power grid even if the system frequencies are different Key features Ships at anchor are connected to the port s power supply using a system for medium voltage DC transmission Generation of different voltage levels and frequencies Environmental value Savings of CO 2 36,5 t per day in harbor Savings of SOX 0,6 t per day in harbor Savings of NOX 100 kg per day in harbor Avoidance of noise, exhaust, particulates, and soot Customer value 1) Savings of fuel of 11,5 t per day turn into cost savings Savings on maintenance of the diesel generators not used 1) Basis: Power demand 3MVA at cos φ 0,8 Page 19
