4 Welch Hall Overview 1. Building constructed in Total area of 179,222 square feet and four stories 3. Heating and cooling provided by the campus central plant 4. Original air handling unit design caused high fan energy and comfort issues 5. 5 air handlers, 195 terminal units, 9 exhaust fans 4

6 The Process Meters installed and check for calibration Pre-baseline data collected and Option C Baseline Created EnerNOC verified what did and didn t work; findings added to a punchlist. Worked are way through a multi-page punch list Nearly all repairs were made by staff RMs and BSEs Brought Emcor in to install controller and do programing EnerNOC field verified all the repairs by opening, closing, and testing every point Post-energy data collected and savings calculated Training / educational wrap up meeting 6

13 Added Benefits of MBCx How did this MBCx project help the campus with implementation and savings realization across campus Everyone in my department became much more knowledgeable of the building Employees saw the benefits of having things work correctly Mechanics started to fix some of the same problems on other buildings or at least ask when we could get money to fix other things. Finishing an MBCx gives a moral boost to the department and momentum to discover other savings on campus for a while 13
