2 MANAGEMENT SCIENCE (A70014) COURSE PLANNER OBJECTIVES AND RELEVANCE: This course introduces the basic concepts of Management Science which is the foundation of Management and Organization discipline. The emphasis of this course is laid on the basic analysis of Designing Organizational Structures, Operations Management, Materials Management Marketing, Human Resources Management (HRM), Project Management (PERT/CPM), Strategic Management and Contemporary Management Practices. An engineer with a management background is in demand all over. He is the professional most sought after as he is the embodiment of right mix of the skills of rationality and decision making. 1. Brief introduction to the concepts, Functions, and Evolution of Management; Organization structure and Managerial objectives. 2. Basic concept and the process of Corporate Planning, Environmental analysis including SWOT Analysis and Strategy Formulation and Implementation. 3. Deal with Plant Location and Layout and Statistical Quality Control. 4. Devoted to the concepts of HRM and their functions. 5. Deals with Material Management, Productivity and Production, Work Study and Introduction to Marketing. 6. Concepts of Project Management with particular reference to PERT \ CPM and Project Crashing.
