1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Company: Department: Responsible to: Responsible for: Grade: Qualifications: Location: Project Worker Clwyd Alyn Housing Association Community Services (Supported Living) Senior Project Officer and Supported Living Co-ordinator Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people, ensuring that they are supervised and supported in order to live an independent life 3S (will include sleep-in allowance as applicable) Youth & Community, Housing or Social Care qualifications or relevant experience Various locations. The post holder will be based at one location but may be asked to work at any of CAHA s other Supported Living schemes subject to operational requirements. Date of Evaluation: April 2014 Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement: This post has been assessed as requiring an Enhanced Level with barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Staff appointed to this role will need to demonstrate through their DBS check that they have not been barred from working with vulnerable groups or children or any unspent convictions or cautions which would impact on their ability to deliver this role safely to the Groups customers. Any risks identified by the Group from a review of DBS certificate information and corresponding Risk Assessment may result in a job offer being withdrawn or an existing member of staff s employment being reviewed. Further information is

Purpose of the Post 1.1 To be responsible for ensuring the provision of good quality, safe, supported accommodation empowering vulnerable people (and where applicable, children between the ages 0 2 years of age) towards independent living. 1.2 To be a part of a team of project staff in providing support and guidance to service users as part of their Individual Support Plan. 1.3 To provide a range of individual and group support, guidance, training and advice to service users. 1.4 To work with the Senior Project Officer and other project staff in ensuring that all service users records are regularly maintained to a high standard, as required by our funding bodies, using a range of recording systems electronic and manual. 1.5 Under the supervision of the Senior Project Officer, to ensure that a full admission procedure for all service users referred to the project is completed, including an Initial Needs and Risk Assessment and ensuring that an appropriate Individual Support Plan and Risk Management Plan is agreed and carried out. 2. Knowledge & Abilities 2.1 Where required, to facilitate project, community, group and individual life and social skills training programmes. 2.2 To ensure that the individual support and guidance as defined within an individuals support and risk management plan is delivered 2.3 To create an environment at the project where the service users are able to optimise their life changes and raise their self-esteem. 2.4 To ensure the promotion of non-vocational activities within and outside of the project. 2.5 To ensure accessibility to the service users and to be responsive to their needs.

Managing Others 3.1 Supervise and support the work of project ancillary staff in accordance with the Human Resource Policies. 3.2 Where required to direct the work of temporary zero hours and/or agency staff 3.3 Ensuring that Health & Safety and Risk Assessments are given the utmost priority in such areas as furniture replacement and renewal, machinery and appliance maintenance, appropriate hygiene standards maintenance and the appropriate administration of heating and lighting systems and comprehensive reporting in respect of these. 3.4 To ensure that the project is a safe environment for the occupants, and that rules relating to the licence and tenancies are maintained and, if not, that appropriate action be taken for those who are in breach of their Licence/Tenancy Agreements. 4. Working with Others 4.1 To work and liaise closely with a range of multi-disciplinary partners, statutory or voluntary with whom the project needs to have operational links e.g. Local Authority, Social Services, Housing Associations, Benefit Agencies, and other agencies to ensure that such operational links are initiated and maintained. In particular the Project Worker will need to extend the housing opportunities for people leaving the project and in some cases continue support to service users after they have left the project. 5. Problem Solving / Decision Making / Innovation 5.1 To assist in the implementation of effective monitoring and recording systems for the project. 5.2 To have a methodical approach to ensuring that high quality services are maintained by ensuring adherence to the relevant policies and procedures. 5.3 To ensure that the service user s progress through the Support Planning and Risk Management Process is monitored. 5.4 To ensure the motivation of the service user to progress through their Individual Support and Risk Management Plan. 5.5 To minimise void loss by taking a proactive role in ensuring vacant rooms are cleaned and re-equipped in a timely manner as required
4 either by the instruction of the SPO or another Senior Manager, the daily task sheet or as circumstances arise. 5.6 To ensure a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness throughout the project, both internally and externally, as required either by the instruction of the SPO or any other Senior Manager, the daily task sheet or as circumstances arise. 6. Use of Technology 6.1 To have a working knowledge, understanding and practical experience of IT packages i.e. SPRINT, Microsoft Word, Outlook etc. and a willingness to fully engage in further training in these and other related systems. 7. Budgets & Cash Handling 7.1 In conjunction with the Senior Project Officer, ensure the monitoring of the project budget in accordance with Clwyd Alyn s Financial Regulations and Standing Orders. This will involve the following: Taking and recording of rent payments Rent Arrears/Void Management Comforts Fund and Petty Cash handling and reconciliation 8. Unsociable Conditions 8.1 A flexible approach to the role is required which will include the requirement, where necessary and according to the requirements of the individual schemeto regularly work bank holidays, evenings, sleep-ins, waking nights and weekend shifts on a rostered basis which is determined by operational requirements. 9. Group Core Responsibilities 9.1 To provide and actively promote excellent Customer Service for both internal and external service users and stakeholders, ensuring the customer experience is a positive one. 9.2 To be responsible for the application of Health & Safety practices within daily working practices sharing a common responsibility for Health & Safety across the Association. 9.3 To comply with the Association s Risk Management Strategy, identifying and mitigating against risk.
5 9.4 To be responsible for the application of Equality and Diversity practices in accordance with Association policy and procedures within daily operations. 9.5 To comply with Standing Orders, Association Policies and Procedures and to make know to Line Managers any areas which are not adequately covered. 9.6 To perform any other reasonable task as determined by the Manager, Director, Deputy Group Chief Executive, Group Chief Executive or Board of Management.
