2 1 Parkinson s UK is the largest European charitable funder of Parkinson s research. Based in the United Kingdom, Parkinson s UK provides expert information, support and opportunities to everyone with Parkinson s and their families. Since 1969, Parkinson s UK has raised awareness, funded and influenced research, changed perceptions and worked to ensure people living with Parkinson s are treated fairly and have access to the support they need. Needs Assessment The charity has a unique staff, with 70% of Parkinson s UK s employees working across the country outside the Londonoffice. Most management training programs are classroom-based, and difficult for all staff to attend. Ensure all members of staff at Parkinson s UK have the skills needed to best achieve the charity s mission. Training Solution Parkinson s UK wanted to provide a management development opportunity for its staff that was a new, fresh and modern experience. The charity selected to participate in IME s Nationally Accredited Management & Leadership course, and the Mini MBA in Peak Performance and Productivity. Both courses were conducted online with additional learning support from tutors via interactive webinar sessions and learner forums. In addition to the formal courses, Parkinson s UK also received access to weekly, tutor-led professional skills webinar series. Interest in both programs was instantaneous across all levels of staff.

3 Results 2 The offering of IME s training programs was met with high demand. The Parkinson s UK employees were extremely motivated to participate, with management noticing immediate improvements in productivity. All attendees have agreed that IME s programs were a positive experience, both professionally and personally and gave them a renewed sense of confidence in their roles and responsibilities. One participant commented, every module contains gems of information and ideas that have practical application. Every module has links and references which spark my interest and send me off searching for more. Employees also agreed that the offering of IME s training programs further solidified their pride in the organization and Parkinson s UK s commitment to the development of its employees. The learnings they obtained via the Management & Leadership course and Mini MBA have helped the Parkinson s UK staff work more efficiently and collaboratively by utilizing new skills on how to approach tasks and do things better. With these new positive ways of thinking employees are more self-aware, selfconfident and proactive. IME s training programs have given the Parkinson s UK employees a fresh perspective and renewed sense of excitement for what they do.
