Taronga Conservation Society Australia (Taronga) forms part of the Office of Environment and Heritage. Taronga s vision is to create a shared future for wildlife and people. Through our efforts we protect endangered species, increase understanding of wildlife and inspire community action. Primary purpose of the role To develop Taronga s ICT and Digital strategy and manage and deliver ICT services and programs that reflect contemporary best practice and support the objectives of Taronga s Strategic Plan, ensuring optimal outcomes for operational and business requirements. Key accountabilities Develop and execute Taronga s ICT and Digital strategy, preparing a comprehensive business case for ICT renewal that aligns with and supports Taronga s Strategic Plan. Lead the delivery of high quality ICT services across the organisation to provide optimal levels of support for key operational requirements. Drive the implementation and delivery of new systems, technologies and services to deliver innovative and flexible ICT solutions that meet Taronga s evolving business requirements across both Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Identify opportunities to improve and enhance services for the organisation through ongoing analysis and review of ICT service delivery. Maintain and grow industry knowledge and networks and provide the Executive Team with expert advice and recommendations on sector developments and trends. Provide effective leadership and management of staff ensuring appropriate systems, policies, procedures, resourcing, performance management, budget management, and continuous improvement in a high-performance, values driven culture. 1

2 Key challenges Developing innovative, reliable and cost effective ICT solutions and addressing complex ICT service delivery issues that meet Taronga s evolving business needs and technology demands. Delivering ICT projects and outcomes within budget, agreed timeframes and client expectations with finite resources and facilities. Managing a variety of ICT systems across both TZ and TWPZ and improving interconnectivity, reliability and user satisfaction levels whilst responding to the impact of changes in the operating environment ensuring integration with Taronga s strategic direction. It is important to note that many system are in need of review and upgrade. In developing the plans, the position consults with the Executive Team and other stakeholders to ensure the plans take into account the needs of all divisions and Taronga operations. The position provides advice and strategy recommendations that have a significant impact on the operations of other divisions. The position works with Directors and line managers to implement agreed strategies to deliver quality programs and effective operations. The position is accountable for the development and implementation of Information Technology programs, projects, policies, procedures and work practices. The position manages numerous ICT projects and services develops proposals for new projects, and recommends ICT project plans, upgrades, programs, infrastructure and resources. Sensitive matters, or those with Taronga-wide implications, or a conflict of interest are discussed with the Director Corporate Services and Governance. 3 Within the framework of Taronga s Strategic Plan, Policies and Procedures, the position is largely selfdirected, however the position is required to work collaboratively and in consultation with directors, managers and supervisors across Taronga. Reporting line The position reports to Taronga s Director Corporate Services and Governance. Direct reports The following line managers and functions report directly to the position: ICT Technical Support ICT Projects Systems PCI Complaince Budget/Expenditure The position is accountable for the Information and Communications Technology Branch budget and expenditure, and must operate within the position s financial delegation and in accordance with Taronga and NSW government finance policies and procedures. Essential requirements Management experience and achievement in Information and Communications Technology Qualifications/Licences A tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology or other relevant discipline.
