1 PRESS RELEASE Wiesbaden, June 16 th, 2011 All-inclusive solution integrated Stadtwerke Trier (SWT-AöR) is modernising its HR area with the HR suite from P&I Since the beginning of the year, the municipal utility Stadtwerke Trier has been working with the all-inclusive HR suite of P&I. The decision in favour of P&I software was preceded by a Europe-wide competitive bidding procedure including functional specifications and a detailed service description. With our old system, we were only able to handle payroll accounting. In addition, we used the solution of a different company for time management. For personnel cost planning and applicant management we were using Excel, says Jörg Lutz, personnel office administrator at Stadtwerke Trier. That was not a solution for the long term. The need for an integrated system with a central database and therefore a common language was becoming more and more obvious. In the run-up phase to the competitive bidding procedure, the utility company obtained information from various suppliers at specialist HR trade fairs and visited several reference customers in Trier in order to investigate the possibilities of replacing the existing systems. During the competitive bidding phase, the scope of supply and services and the attractive price-performance ratio were ultimately the crucial factors for deciding against competitors.

2 P&I was able to fulfil our requirements in an optimal manner and emerged as the right partner for our HR and time management. In the future, the infrastructure service provider with roughly 750 employees will benefit from the integrated joint database and will avoid the system discontinuities that previously existed between the various solutions. From now on, the efficiency and transparency of workflows at the utility company will be enhanced by means of the flexible HR management system. The utility company is also taking a major step towards the future especially with the aid of the web portal that is integrated into the P&I suite. New workflow-based application and approval procedures will be introduced: Employees can submit applications for vacation via self-service, and later on they will also be able to do their travel expense accounting and access documents online. The staff will be introduced to the individual features step by step. Thanks to the modernisation of the HR management area and the resulting acceleration of the information flow to the executive management, we are evolving into an important service provider within our organisation to an increasing extent, explains Lutz. With the web-based manager and employee portal we have created the option of accessing and using information on a selfdetermined basis and in accordance with respective authorisations. The company will also benefit tremendously from the new solution in the area of cost planning, because it will be possible to process analysis reports very quickly and efficiently in the future. Various scenarios can be examined from different angles or compared. Now we are much more flexible in the area of personnel reporting, states Lutz, who definitely appreciates the new options. The position plan in P&I LOGA also facilitates work at the utility company considerably: Once data have been entered, they are

3 available at all levels and within all components of the system. We used to have to perform changes manually at several spots, so of course the potential for errors was correspondingly higher. Stadtwerke Trier is one of the Top 10 employers in Trier and the surrounding region. As an infrastructure provider, the municipal utility company is responsible for the supply of electricity, gas and drinking water as well as for waste water disposal, and it additionally supplies district heating to customers.
