1 Ex Competent Person Training and Certification Program Hazardous Areas Classification - training & certification program to enhance and upgrade the competencies of Engineering Managers, Engineers & Technician - Date: See Calendar Venue: Selangor, Malaysia PROGRAMME OVERVIEW: The aims of the course are to understand IEC standards and raise the level of competency of the participant so that they fully understand hazardous areas, and how the different protection types of equipment are made suitable for the various hazardous areas. The correct procedures and practices to overhaul and repair the explosion proof equipment such as electrical motors, pumps, and other apparatus, so that they will comply with the original certification to which they were manufactured, and/or comply with the original standards. To ensure that the participant also understand the legal requirements, risk assessments, and health and safety requirements, when overhauling and repairing Explosion Proof Equipment. The IEC Ex Certified Scheme are invaluable for End users, that their Managers, Engineers and Technicians are fully aware of the care that are needed to be taken when repairing Hazardous Area equipment to return it to its original certification and/or standard. This ensures that the requirements of Health and Safety, DSEAR, ATEX, Risk Assessments, and Insurers are met. TARGET AUDIENCE: Electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians, and supervisors, who are responsible for handling explosion Proof Equipment, especially personnel, who are removing and installing Ex motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, etc. or involved in the replacement of spare parts such as bearings. The training is also suitable for managers and participants who are involved with ATEX, Health and Safety, and risk assessments for equipment in Hazardous areas, or for sales, purchasing, and administration staff requiring a knowledge of area classification, equipment suitability etc. LEARNING OUTCOME: In this program, the participants will enhance their knowledge and skills to enable them to make right decision to Repair and Service the Explosion Proof equipment in their daily work. At the end of the program, participants will be able to:- Understand IEC standards Understand ISO 9001:2008 Improve their knowledge and skills on application of Explosion Proof Equipment. Increase their competencies. Reduce the downtime and increase the productivities. Proper documentation on Repair and Service of Equipment Awareness of Health and Safety and Environment METHODOLOGIES: Instructor explanation, coaching and mentoring system, skills & knowledge transfer via work based and required training sessions. 2 TRAINER S PROFILE: Dr R Villa; (Bachelor in Electrical Power Engineering, MBA on Technopreneur (UBI) & Doctorate Research on Energy Management and Energy Efficiency on Rotating Machines) He have been involved in Explosion Proof Motors, switchgears, lightings, enclosures and other equipment Repair and Services training for more than 30 years. He has vast experiences and knowledge in selection, installation, commissioning, maintenances and repairing of rotating machines in Power Stations, Oil and Gas, Chemical, Steel, Cement, and Pulp and Paper Industries during his days working with Multinational companies. He has been certified as a Ex Competent Person under the Electrotechnology Industry UTE 99 scheme- Australia, and Code of Practice for Repairs to Hazardous area equipment, based on BS EN and IEC schemes: The Repair & Overhaul for apparatus used in explosive atmospheres which are used in Oil and Gas, Chemical and paint Industries. He obtained IEC Ex Certified Person certificate in 2010, and also works as an auditor to audit Electrical Rotating Machines Repair Workshop He is involved in training and Certifying people on Diagnostics of Electrical Motor and Explosion Proof equipment under IEC He conducts regular training on Energy Management, Repair and Maintenance of Rotating Machines. PRE-REQUISITE FOR APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION (COPC) Work experience in or associated with Hazardous Areas The Work Experience Record should include examples of actual work done in or associated with hazardous areas.
