37 Safety Checks The system checks every signal control defined in the plan or any manual controls against a safety interlocking matrix and safety rules like two slanting arrows pointing to each other consistency between the displays on signals and signs on the same or adjacent gantries 37

38 Safety Checks All changes in field equipment are monitored for safety violation Safety rules can be hard or soft Other safety features: lane restriction on double-deck bridge speed fluctuation on roadway precaution procedures for co-ordination of execution of traffic plans among multiple control centres. 38
