INTRODUCTION: Mission of Wismar University/ MSCW Maritime Education and Training/ Students Education: Maritime Students to Diploma Engineer/ Bachelor/ Master Degrees to become deck or ship engine officers holding highest level of competency - STCW Management Level Research and Development: Research area: Operation of large systems like Ships, Plants, Traffic systems. Tests New Technologies! Numerous Projects have been managed fully funded by third parties at both national and international level (EU- Programs in 4th, 5th and 6th FP) Training Courses/Simulation: Further education and refresher courses for shipping companies for ships' officers, pilots, Simulator Instructors Waterway & Shipping authorities i.e. VTS personnel as well as for Emergency response forces Knud Benedict 5 Brüssel 7. 6 Maritime Simulation Centre Warnemuende Integrated Mode of Operation VTS- Simulator Shiphandling Simulator Ship s Engine Simulator Separate Operation Mode: 3 Exercises in parallel, both in SHS and VTSS, Integrated Operation Mode: All simulators can be run collectively in 1 complex exercise (Bridge 1 using the full machinery of SES and SHS is linked to VTSS; additionally full part task training. 19 Future Perspectives /Vessels: Super Fast Wing-Ship Development in Rostock Future Goal Current Design - Test in Rostock Port State of the Art: New High Speed Crafts under development for civil use, based on the Wing-in-Ground Effect WIGs are operating with speeds of up to 250 kts.
