3 HISTORY 1999: Spectra formed by local Valenite Management buy out as Murray & Roberts unbundled and sold off their engineering division. Spectra appointed as sole Valenite Distributors in Southern Africa. Marketing indexable inserts & tooling for all CNC & conventional machines, for the following applications: Drilling, Turning, Milling, Boring, etc. Spectra appointed as sole Widia Distributors in Southern Africa (this brings South Africa inline with the rest of the world following the merger of previous competitors Widia and Valenite into one company, giving a choice of two full competitive indexable insert and tooling ranges from one supplier). HISTORY 2000: Spectra appointed as sole Mapal distributors in Southern Africa. High precision reamers and specialized tooling; CBN PCD tipped tools. Tool presetting machines. Tool Management division formed to look after the growing tool management program and sole supplier partnerships being negotiated with several customers.

4 HISTORY 2001: Spectra negotiate contracts with various tooling manufacturers to supply direct into Spectra Tool Management accounts and Spectra sole supplier accounts to bene t their customer base and avoid using 3rd parties. Tooling manufacturers and products available for these customers, over and above our agency agreements with Valenite, Widia, Safety, Ceramtec, Mapal, Menlo, Miller, Delta and Botek. HISTORY 2002: Secure Menlo exclusive distributorship agreement. Menlo specializes in micrograin carbide and coated carbide Endmills, Drills, Reamers, Burrs for all types of materials: steels, hardened steels, Aluminium etc. Miller exclusive distributorship agreement. Miller Carbide Drills standard and all types of Special Drills made to customer speci cation. Full Design and manufacture capability.

5 HISTORY 2003: Spectra appointed as sole Safety distributors in Southern Africa marketing micro-boring and indexable inserts and tooling specializing in die & mould and indexable insert broaches. Spectra appointed as sole distributor for Delta tooling a full range of adaptors, HSK, CNC & conventional consisting of side lock, collet chucks, shell/face mill, combi-mill, hydraulic chucks, modular systems etc. Of cially opened new training facility at Spectra head of ce. HISTORY 2004: Spectra appointed as sole Ceramtec distributor in Southern Africa marketing full range of silicon nitride and ceramic indexable inserts. Ceramtec have developed pressing new chip forming geometries into the indexable insert, enabling vast improvements in productivity on cast iron and steel, especially hardened steel.

6 HISTORY 2005: Spectra open new of ces in Jet Park Johannesburg 213m2 of oor space and appoint a new inland divisional Manager to head up the team. Spectra open new of ce Durban Kwazulu-Natal and appoint a Technical Sales Engineer to represent Spectra direct; this completes the 5 year plan to have direct representation in all the major centres: Johannesburg, Vereeniging, Pretoria, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town by end Spectra appointed as agents for full Botek product range consisting of single ute gundrills, twin- uted gundrills, deep-hole ejector drill heads, indexable and solid carbide, full range of specially designed deep-hole drilling tools available. Spectra Metal Cutting Fluids & Lubricants (Pty) Ltd. launched, marketing the latest Cimcool product range incorporating the latest environmentally friendly metal cutting uids, cleaning liquids and lubricants for all types of metal removal. This company will run independently of Spectra Carbide; however both companies have contracted priority service and pricing for Spectra Tool Management and national customer base. Spectra Mapal Tool Manufacture & Service Centre (Pty) Ltd. launched; this 5 ½ million rand joint venture between Spectra Carbide and Mapal (high precision tooling) of Germany, incorporating the latest CNC type metal cutting tool machines, capable of regrinding the latest solid carbide drills, taps, gundrills and endmills etc. to original manufacturers speci cations, plus capability to manufacture new cutting tools from high quality carbide blanks. This plant is to be ISO 9001 and accredited. Spectra purchase new of ce building and move Spectra Carbide Tooling Technology (Pty) Ltd. and Spectra Metal Cutting Fluids & Lubricants (Pty) Ltd. under one roof into their new head of ce.

7 HISTORY 2006: Spectra purchase new Cape Town of ce building and move Spectra Carbide Tooling Technology (Pty) Ltd. and Spectra Metal Cutting Fluids & Lubricants (Pty) Ltd. under one roof into their new Cape Town branch of ce (374m2) situated in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. HISTORY 2007: Spectra sign a Tool Management agreement with VWSA (Level 4). This is a full on customer site operation; Spectra are responsible to purchase, store, issue and control all tooling required in the VW Engine Plant. Spectra employ 10 persons on-site at VW including the responsibility to manage 4 staff members in the re-sharpening and rework area. Spectra now have three Level 4 Tool Managements in operation and numerous Level 1-3 operations: - Atlantis Foundries Daimler Chrysler Engine Plant: 2002 to date - VWSA Engine Block: 2007 to date. Spectra acquire access to Automated Vending machines through Toolboss, a market leader in the supply chain service program, improving ef ciency and cost reduction through unmanned 24hr/7 day a week tool availability and distribution points, with the ability to record all tool usage by whoever for whatever, whenever, automated vending a tool for the future now available through Spectra.

8 HISTORY 2008: Spectra sign a Tool Management agreement with Guestro Automotive, Uitenhage. Spectra undergoes a major IT infrastructure upgrade with the installation of 3 new HP servers and a brand new state of the art UPS system. HISTORY 2009: Consolidated due to world recession to ensure that the Spectra Group of companies remain a stable supplier to our partners and customers. HISTORY 2010: Spectra appointed PH Horn agents for Southern Africa. An automotive engineering manufacturer extends a tool management contract with Spectra. Spectra appointed sole Walter agent for Southern Africa, range includes Walter Titex, Walter Prototype and Walter Valenite. Spectra setup small tool management systems with customers by providing a vending machine on customers site.

9 HISTORY 2011: Spectra appointed sole distributorship in Southern Africa for the Poliangolar range. Another automotive engineering manufacturer extends a tool management contract with Spectra. A heavy engineering company signs sole supply agreement with Spectra - 5 frame vending machines installed. Expanded of ce space at JHB of ce to accommadate growth in the area. HISTORY 2012: Spectra appointed as Poliangolar agent in South Africa. Launch of Walter new catalogue combining all brands for total cutting edge solutions. HISTORY 2013: Spectra installs a vending machine at SCAW Metals in Johannesburg. Spectra appointed the of cial distributor for German brand KFH tool holding systems.

10 HISTORY 2014: Safety and Pramet/Dormer merge worldwide. Spectra is now the of cial Pramet & Dormer distributor for South Africa. Spectra was also appointed the Holdwell agent (angleheads and driven tools) for South Africa. HISTORY 2015: Spectra is appointed the of cial distributor for all Gesac products in South Africa. Spectra appointed as the distributor for Gleason gear cutting range in South Africa. HISTORY 2016: Spectra installs a vending machine at Macsteel. Spectra is appointed as the national distributor for Norton Abrasives. All Spectra sales engineers complete Kennametal working training program.

11 HISTORY 2017: A new vending is installed at Macsteel. Spectra joined the Kennametal Channel partner program. Spectra renews contract with SCAW metals. HISTORY 2018: Spectra is appointed as an authorised Dormer Pramet distributor for all Dormer and Pramet products. Spectra is appointed the of cial distributor for Swiss brand, TESA, measuring product range. Spectra installs a vending machine at AAT Composites. 13 EDUCATION: Provide numerous customers with basic knowledge of carbide tooling through the use of seminars and on the job training. Speeds, feeds, fault nding, carbide capabilities and parameters, chip breakers and grades, failure modes etc. Adequate product inventory to support customer s manufacturing requirements. Consignment stock situated at 19 customer s (tool management level 1), spread around South Africa, helping to reduce customers stores inventory while removing the risk of customers generating dead or unwanted stock, thus freeing up their monies. Spectra Mapal grind shop situated in Atlantis, Cape Town (45km from Cape Town centre) ability to grind standard and special indexable inserts from rough moulds. CAD system to facilitate special steel and insert design around customers requirements. Special Steel products manufactured locally and internationally to local and overseas designs. Spectra have Tool Management systems running to various levels of involvement within South Africa. From a basic Spectra consignment stock system on customer site (level 1) to a full on site operation requiring Spectra staff permanently stationed on customer premises, responsible for purchasing, issuing, controlling, and storing all tooling including cleaning and presetting of all new and used tools, this system has the ability to issue cost per component, supported with suitably quali ed technical personnel on site (level 4) focusing on producing CPU costs. Level 1 no management fee, levels 2 4 involves a nominal Tool Management fee dependent on customer requirements; various packages to suit various customer needs. Capabilities to quote turnkey type solutions on projects large and small.
