2 Greeting Dear Sir or Madam, Experts agree: the future of research and production will be largely determined by the subjects efficiency and information integration. While the first is one of the most important pillars in answering the question of how we can create sustainable economic growth, the informatization of classic production and logistics processes has great potential to further streamline and automate processes. As a member of the association SmartFactory Festo intensively searches for new ways to transfer new technologies and concepts in the context of factory automation. By close cooperation with other industrial companies and universities research and practice merge: the cooperation of intelligent components from different manufacturers and their networking among each other are tested and further developed under real conditions. Festo does not only have the production itself in view, however, the focus is also on the training and qualification of young talents for future production worlds. With its turnkey learning factories and laboratory solutions Festo Didactic provides the necessary tools to help to shape the future of automation technology. Campus Week offers scientists and university tutors a platform for engaging in mutual dialogue with our partners. You will discover new potential for designing practical teaching methods for use in university education. All learning factories run around the clock at the Campus Week on over 1000 sqm exhibition space. Our engineers and consultants look forward to speaking with you about your thoughts until late afternoon. Learning factory for the future: flexible, intelligent, needs-oriented The MPS Transfer Factory is a convertible factory which offers a wide range of possibilities for discovering flexible and networked manufacturing processes. The individual function modules can be used flexibly, thus making it possible to decide which skills to develop. Energy efficiency in production The learning factory EDS Green Factory offers exciting possibilities for exploring energy-efficient production. The modular, energyefficient production system is supplemented by an intelligent supply system for electricity, heat and compressed air. The topic of the smart grid is given practical relevance in the energy network.

4 Order production logistics: the complete factory in the laboratory The processes and material flow in the ProLog learning factory represent a real production system including logistics and shipping. The variety of stations and the technologies they contain can be used to cover almost all of the relevant topics in control and automation technology. Flexible production with integrated CNC-machines MicroFMS systems permit integration of small and compact CNCmachines up to CNC-machines for industrial series production in all our learning factories. All stages of product development are recreated, from CAD design to machining. An end to isolation: uniform production control Procurement, planning, capacity manufacturing processes can no longer be designed efficiently without the right Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Large solutions are expensive, stand-alone solutions are not suitable for research and teaching. We present to you MES4, the optimum solution for complete order management from receipt and monitoring of orders up to order analysis.

7 Speakers Prof.-Dr. Ferdinand Panik Head of Institute for sustainable energy technology and mobility (INEM) University of Applied Sciences, Esslingen E-Mobility and sustainable production Prof. Panik has been professor at the University of Applied Sciences Esslingen since 2003 and since 2012 Head of Institute for sustainable energy technology and mobility (INEM). Furthermore, Prof. Panik is technical project manager of the UN/World bank technology transfer project Hydrogen Fuel Cell Busses for Brazil. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Herrmann Head of Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology TU Braunschweig Green Production Energy efficiency in production The research projects of Prof. Herrmann include the support of a lifecycle product planning and development, life cycle assessments, energy and resource efficiency in production, planning of disassembly and recycling systems as well as methods and tools for a holistic life cycle management.

Markus Graßl Resource-efficient mechatronic processing machines Fraunhofer IWU The energy-flexible factory Markus Grassl is a research associate in the project group for resource-efficient mechatronic processing machines of the Fraunhofer IWU. The research focus is in the field of energy-efficient and flexible factories. Since September 2012 Markus Grassl is Managing Director of the Bavarian Research Association FOREnergy. Dr.-Ing Olaf Sauer Head of Business Development, Marketing and Sale in the business field Automation Fraunhofer IOSB Information technology the key to the factory of the future Dr. Sauer is in charge of the business unit production monitoring and control at the Fraunhofer IOSB and is responsible for the development, supply and maintenance of ProVis production control systems. Dr. Sauer is deputy manager of the business field automation at three locations of the IOSB.

KG Inspired by nature: the Bionic Learning Network of Festo Dr. Nina Gaissert is a biologist in the Bionic Learning Network of Festo AG and responsible to accompany current and future Bionic rojects scientifically. Industry 4.0 and its impact on production processes Since September 2011, Prof. Bauernhansl has been Head of Institute for Industrial Manufacturing and Management (IFF) and Head of the Fraunhofer-Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA). Since October 2012 Prof. Bauernhansl has also been Head of Institute for Energy Efficiency in production (EEP). Prof. Bauernhansl is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineering in Stuttgart.

Manfred Zahn Consulting team Berkheim Festo Lernzentrum Saar GmbH The new technology factory Scharnhausen from the objectives to the concept and the implementation Manfred Zahn is responsible for various processes in the establishment of the new technology factory of Festo in Scharnhausen. Furthermore, Manfred Zahn is a member of the core team new building Scharnhausen and project leader Learning Factory and Layout.
