35 COMPONENT: Circulation Services SUBCOMPONENT: Exterior Book Drop ACTIVITIES: AREA DATA FORM NUMBER: 4.K.1 AREA NET ASF: 180 This area accommodates book and video returns near the library entry for use by pedestrians. There is also an auto book drop off which can be one and the same if auto and pedestrian circulation are closely aligned. The backdrop needs to be secure, fire rated, and meet ADA standards. This book drop may not be emptied over weekends and holidays, consequently it needs to accommodate extra large book bins or books will spillover onto the floor. Books and Videos need separate slots at this time. The route to the sorting area needs to be carefully considered. If an automated system is incorporated into the library, routing for the automated belt system needs to be considered at the earliest design phases, the raised floor is a possible route. Book returns must comply with all fire design codes.
