The space should be located near the school supply/storage area and service/vehicular access. Provide exterior access. This area provides space for the maintenance contractor to work on repair projects and store supplies for routine maintenance of the facility. 4 2 February 202 School Bus Office E M H Functional Area Descriptions This functional area is for a bus office that serves a smaller complex of schools. It is not intended to be used for planning the space requirements of a large, centralized school bus office. This office plans and directs the bus transportation for the student body. All aspects of traffic flow and safety concerns are handled here. Provide space for an office of up to three persons, a small reception/waiting area, and a place for taking photos for identification. The reception area should open onto the main hallway providing easy access for both students and visitors. This area should be located conveniently to the identification photo area. Provide an area for taking student identification photos with a plain backdrop and a place to set up the camera. A lockable storage cabinet should be provided for the camera equipment and supplies. Provide a transaction counter, either built-in or configured with systems furniture to separate the waiting area from the office area. Space for the office area will vary according to the number of people assigned to this function at a particular school. The number of persons can be up to five. An area with a desk, computer and telephone should be provided for each person. At least one desk should be able to see the reception/waiting area. SCHOOL BUS OFFICE

5 30 November 202 School Supply/Storage Area E M H Func onal Area Descrip ons The school supply/storage area serves as the primary storage area for the school. To serve the func onality of the school include small storage areas for everyday items throughout the school. Locate the room on the first floor, with exterior vehicle access and double exterior doors. Provide windows high above ground level to clear the shelving heights and reduce security risks. Central Supply/Storage Area Allow space for receiving deliveries, unpacking boxes, assembling furniture, etc. near the exterior doors. Provide several lockable storage cabinets near the supply technician s office for storage of high value items. Equip this area with steel storage shelving throughout. Coordinate the height of shelving with clearances required for sprinkler systems. 7 2 February 202 Technology Service Center E M H Functional Area Descriptions The technology service center consists of the server room and workspace for the administrative technologist (AT). Limitations on cable length, typically 295 linear feet (90 meters), will dictate the number and location of communication rooms provided within a school. This space does not have any specific adjacency requirements, but should be fairly central within the building for efficient cable routing. Main Telecom Room Each school shall contain one main telecom room for network equipment. Further information on this room is provided in the special systems design guide. 2 AT Workspace This area consists of an office area, repair area, and storage area. The office area provides a desk and file storage area for the AT. This office does not need to be located within the server room, but having it collocated will improve the technologist s ability to maintain the servers.
