3 OUR COMPANY Paramount Safety Products designs, produces, markets and distributes the ProChoice brand of safety equipment specifically to meet Australian conditions and requirements. Paramount was founded in Perth by the late Rob Bird in The company employs more than 50 people throughout Australia, and is now the third largest wholesaler/supplier of Personal Protective Equipment and other safety products in Australia. The company is a wholly Australian-owned private company, and the only national wholesaler of PPE that holds significant stocks in four state capitals. Paramount has warehouses in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth and with representation in South Australia, Papua New Guinea, Karratha WA, Far North Queensland and New Zealand. The value of service to customers was the reason behind establishing a national distribution network for the emerging ProChoice range, so that products could be supplied to all resellers in the shortest possible time. Paramount customers now include the largest suppliers of safety equipment in Australia. At Paramount, Rob was a great believer in rewarding and delegating responsibility to his team, and supporting the network of resellers that are so important to the success of the company. This inclusive management style has proven to be a winner for all stakeholders end users, resellers and Paramount Safety Products. This generous approach to business, life and business permeates throughout the Paramount organisation and is continued under the stewardship of his sons Tim and Will, and the entire Paramount team. Paramount continues to be a supporter of numerous charities and community programs. Being privately owned, with established lines of credit and considerable stock holdings, we are able to rapidly respond to product demands necessitated by large customer orders. The operating philosophy at Paramount owes much to Rob Bird s professional and sporting background for its ethical and service-based approach. As a stockbroker during the 1960 s, 70 s and 80 s, Rob was not afraid to take a chance on opportunities he thought would succeed. Rob Bird s competitive nature and sense of fair play was developed during his illustrious career as an international yachtsman that saw him compete in national and world championships in the Etchell class. While meeting his own sporting goals, he generously extended sponsorship to the Paralympic sailing program, and was known for his support of young and emerging sailors. He predicted that the burgeoning Australian resources sector would have an increasing demand for supplies of PPE, which lead him to establishing a business that recycled industrial gloves. Acting on the requests from his existing customers, he sourced other PPE from a variety of overseas manufacturers. The resulting business is now one of Australia s most diverse and fastest growing, one-stop-supplier of quality safety gear and ancillary equipment. Rob Bird felt that the best way to reach the national market was to sell through established resellers. Once he had established a network of resellers he felt that Paramount should not compete for end-user sales. Paramount also has representatives strategically located in South Australia, the Northern Territory, Far North Queensland, the Pilbara, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Each of our capital city warehouses exceed 1500 square metres of storage. We have identified locations close to major industrial and mining areas to ensure we meet our commitment for prompt and reliable delivery of stocks to our resellers. RELIABILITY OF SUPPLY We are a wholly Australian-owned supplier of safety equipment designed for Australian conditions. As a privately owned company, we can make prompt policy decisions to ensure optimum benefits to our customers Paramount has contracts with national carriers to minimize delivery times to regional Australia. We pride ourselves on offering same or next-day delivery to all capital cities, and next-day delivery to major regional centres. For most of remote, regional Australia we achieve a 2-3 day delivery service. Our warehousing capacity is sufficient to carry back up stocks of high-volume and special demand items. 8 MARKETING SUPPORT To ensure our resellers are successful, we have an on-going brand awareness program through targeted advertising in TV and print media and a strategic editorial campaign. We have retained boxer Danny Green as the face of ProChoice As a good fit with our tough and tested image, Danny is used in our TV commercials, posters, catalogues and point of sales material. The increased brand awareness of ProChoice has lead to a specific asking for ProChoice response by end users. The increased brand recognition has also been enhanced by our constantly improved product range and quality, in response to industry requests. Contract Pricing and Reseller Support OUR DIRECTION We will continue to strive to develop and deliver the highest quality and innovative safety gear available to Australians. Improvement of existing products and development of new products in line with technological advancement will see our range expand and new areas explored in the interests of keeping workers safe. We aim to improve our international network of distributors and work harder for our Australian distributors in bringing the benefits of ProChoice Safety Gear to end users everywhere. We are focussed on our relationship with our resellers and the pricing agreements with their customers. By utilizing our own suppliers we are able to monitor and micro-manage cost variations.
