Biographical Note Alpha Phi Pi was a Jewish high school fraternity founded by twelve New York City high school students on January 19, By 1932, it had grown to include 1,064 members across the country, produced a monthly publication, The Triangle, and hosted annual 1 conventions. According to a newsletter from 1950, membership was later no longer confined to high school students and consisted of young Jewish men between the ages 2 of 18 and 28. Alumni chapters abounded, as well. The Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Pi appears to date its existence to 1920, as well, and was located in Paterson, New Jersey. It was the oldest consistently active chapter in the state. 4 handbook (from 1946 and 1964), a 1938 membership roster, and two copies of a New Jersey conference journal from March The second section, Other Materials, contains anniversary invitations and programs from 1946, 1948, and , convention materials from , correspondence from , photographs dating to 1922, 1943, 1950, 1951, and two unknown dates from the 1940s and 1950s, and other items including a program for the Lincoln s Birthday Ball of 1948, invitation cards from 1948, an address book listing members of the Beta Chapter in the 1940s, initiation cards from the 1940s, sheet music from the 1940s, a Theta Chapter membership card, a dance card booklet from the 14th Semi-Annual Great Lakes Conference, notes on finance, and a postcard of Hotel Seneca in Rochester, New York. The third section, Objects, contains two plaques formerly belonging to Jerry Nathans denoting his service as a National Delegate in 1947 and Arrangement Note Organized into three groups: Publications, Other Materials, and Objects. Publications is further organized into The Beacon, The Triangle, and Other Publications.
