6 Coaching Culture = Empowered Culture Formal and informal coaching used to: Manage performance Influence Communicate
7 In a coaching culture: Coaching becomes the default leadership style Decisions are driven down to the lowest possible level Staff expect coaching Staff use a coaching approach
8 In a coaching culture: People take personal responsibility People don t get punished People speak up People seek out responsibility Asking not telling is the norm
9 Coaching Culture: A coaching style is widely used Constructive confrontation is apparent Helping others learn and develop is expected and natural
10 A coaching culture exists in an organisation when a coaching approach is a key aspect of how the leaders, managers, and staff engage and develop all their people and engage their stakeholders, in ways that create increased individual, team and organisational performance and shared value for all stakeholders. (Hawkins, 2012)
11 So, what this means is that such organisations: Provide coaching skills training for all their managers Constructive confrontation is apparent Helping others learn and develop is expected and natural

26 Calculating ROI: Step-by-step guide
27 Step One Estimate the total value of resolving an issue or the costs involved in not resolving it E.g 50,000
28 Step Two Multiply the sum you arrived at in Step 1 by the percentage you attribute to the coaching E.g 50% of 50,000 = 25,000
29 Step Three - Accuracy of Steps 1 & 2 Adjust figure with your level of confidence in its accuracy (adjusted total benefit) E.g 80% of 25,000 = 20,000
30 Step Four - Subtract the cost of coaching Subtract the cost of coaching E.g No cash cost as internal coach, but time taken = 2 hours, plus cost of training. So maybe 1,000 tops. Net benefit = 20,000-1,000 = 19,000
31 Step Five Divide the net benefit by the cost of coaching and turn it into a percentage.
32 Cost Benefit Ratio Net Benefit (19,000) Cost of Coaching (1,000) = 1900% or 19 to 1 Return on Investment
